Artificial Intelligence and machine learning
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer Science with a building a machine that typically thinks like a Human Brain. It is an interdisciplinary science which is using multiple approaches to solve the human – facing problems. Machine learning is all about predictions. Machine Learns from a set of information or data by using algorithms, and it builds its Brain-which is like a human for making accurate predictions, whereas Artificial intelligence is all about Actions. The technology discussed in this paper is Artificial Intelligence which uses the Human-Machine Communication concept in Siri. This paper will discuss the idea of Siri. It is considered as a technology that has the objective of creating intelligent machines. (Guzman, 2017).
Part 1
Siri is the voice assistant by Apple. It works on two technology: Speech recognition and Natural processing language. So there are many machine learning models on a considerable scale, to create different speech notes for recognition as all humans have different voice tones. After speech recognition, the converted text is sent to Apple servers for further processing. Apple servers then run natural language processing (Branch of AI) algorithms on the text to understand the intent of the user what he was trying to say. There is a large number of the dataset provided for the processing of NLP. Machine learning plays a role in contextual understanding which helps Siri that it is talking to a human. (Goel, 2018)
Part 2
Technology is upgrading, the way people communicate with it also derives. In a growing world where everything is getting automated and developing in every era like self-drive cars etc. So, Siri is also helping us to do things faster. Early it was not possible to do things via voice, people who are facing problems related to fingers; this is very helpful for them, people who have problems with eyesight, while driving it is not possible to measure traffic. Through voice, we can send messages, set reminders, create calendar entries, dial calls, answer questions, set timers, show weather forecast, take photos, set alarms, play music, send texts and open apps. It does not understand what we are saying – they listen to wake words and begin their communication with the apple server to complete the task. NLP is a form of AI that helps to interpret human language. (Canbek et al.,2016).
Part 3
By a Survey which was done in 2107 – 10% of the people do not know anything about the voice assistants. 72% of people are using Voice assistance technology. Adaptation of AI technology is more seen in the younger generation and households having income more than $100k. (“Consumer Intelligence Series: Prepare for the voice revolution”, 2017) .
From a survey, data showing 1040 adults show 44% are using Siri, and only 30% are of google assistant. Alexa comes in third place with 17%. Siri has covered all the market of smartphones voice assistant adoption. By reports, Siri has 375 million monthly active users in June 2017. These lead Siri consumer trust and loyalty over time (Kinsella, 2018).
Part 4
So whenever new technology arrives, it comes with some challenges and barriers like may AI time have come, but it needs progress. Its lacking in the voice recognition as words seem the same byte or bite so it has not progressed on that field and more air is filled while transferring the text file. Siri whiffs when it tries to convert the voice into the text file, and even when it gets that part right, there is a good chance Siri only understands half and assumes the answer before it crashes and shows its limitations. It is coming up with the new idea of a digital assistant to put it in front and centre on every device (O’Kane, 2017).
Part 5
With all these technological advancements, the society will face more challenges in investing and directing in technology for the benefit of humanity instead of destroying it or accessing one’s privacy. The impact of AI will defiantly be going to improve in the field of health care by using voice assistant for people who are physically disabled like the use of Siri in phones. The risk associated with Siri technology as even if the phone is protected with a password or pin, but anyone can use the Siri to find out personal information. Siri is a bypass to reach the person’s security region. The problem arises mainly who has Siri on the lock screen. So avoid putting that on lock Screen. (Hussein,2019) (Wyciślik-Wilson, 2016)
