Introduction

President Franklin Pierce was the most handsome president of the United States. He was born in Hampshire and later went to Maine college, after which he returned, and his father was the governor of Hampshire.Pierce also joined politics and was elected into the congress, after which he made many connections with other democrats who later nominated him for the presidency seat. Pirce then won the election and became the president. This [resident faced a tragedy that changed him completely. His only son was killed in a train accident that claimed only one person’s life, his son (The Moonrise). Pierce was inaugurated after that, but he had lost his purpose and himself in the process.

Pierces’ actions as president fueled the civil war between the northerners and the southerners. Pierce passed accented to the Nebraska bill, which allowed people to decide if slavery was to be accepted in their territory or not. His action made the people in this territory engage in a conflict that he didn’t bother to quell. He sent marines to Boston to quell riots resulting from the Fugitive law he had signed (The Moonrise). He enforced the legislation by sending this marine to deal with the protestors. Pierce was responsible for the civil war as he supported only the southerners in his party leadership that he forgot to make his own decisions. He depended on others who were blinded by powerpack and were not concerned with reducing the divisions between the north and the south. He was following orders from party officials. Pierce knew that slavery was the main problem, but he still signed bills supporting it.

Conclusion

I now believe that pierce was responsible for the civil war as he was able to decide what was best for the country, but he chose to listen to the few pro-slavery officials in his party. What surprised me was that he followed the party orders, but they still failed to support him for a second term. I always knew the war was caused due to different ideologies between the north and south leaders, but I am surprised that it was a president who failed to do his job well. Pierce was truly a very weak leader and president.
