Job description

Getting out to the job place requires one to have a vision and a dream on the career they want to pursue in future. My dream job is becoming a successful hotel manager and helps my employer in realizing their strategic goals. The following is a job description of the job I want to pursue. A hotel manager is responsible for overseeing all the daily operations of the hotel these include, reservation operations, food, and beverages services and production. The hotel manager also has the function of ensuring the housekeeping department operations runs smoothly. The hotel manager is responsible for the decision making on matters affecting the hotel establishment. Some of the main activities in which the hotel manager is involved include, menu planning. The manager is responsible for ensuring that the services and products offered matches the needs of the target customer. For this reason, the manager is directly involved in the planning of the menu in conjunction with the premise chef. Another important role of a hotel manager is recruitment and training; this function is undertaken to ensure that the employees are skillfully equipped to provide quality services. More details about job description are on the attached appendix on the job description. The motivation for pursuing this job is my passion and love for the hospitality industry.

These refer to the knowledge base of the employee- this refers to how informed the employee is towards their new role. The knowledge base of the employee can be measured regarding the experience level about the job performance of the employee. The knowledge base can be improved through training of the employee on job performance.

Another aspect is the skills an employee poses which are necessary for job performance. There is a wide variety of the skills which an employee can possess and help them in job performance. These include technical skills, enabling the employee to know the know-how of production. Interpersonal skills, these relate to how an individual relates with other people at the workplace. An employee can also have communication skills; these skills determine how the employee communicate with others within the organization. An employee can possess good communication skills, or an employee may have poor skills. The ability is the capabilities which make an employee fit for a given task. An employee’s ability to undertake a given task can be due to the experience, appropriate training or some physical trait such as being masculine.

Specific KSAOs necessary for a hotel a manager

A hotel manager job requires some basic prerequisites to ensure that the person undertaking the job will be able to deliver and enable a firm to reach its strategic goals. These requirements include; good interpersonal skills. A manager is responsible for ensuring that an organization effectively utilizes its resources to reach its goals through people. Good interpersonal skills, therefore, enable the manager to relate well with his subordinates and therefore facilitating the realization of the set goals. Appropriate technical skills under this the manager should have the required technical skills (Gunlu, Aksarayli, & Perçin,2010). The skills will help the manager in training of the subordinates on the appropriate production procedure based on the organization policies. The manager should have the relevant financial knowledge; the knowledge helps the manager in budgeting and planning for financial resources within the organization. Through this knowledge, the manager will ensure that appropriate investments are made, and there are no instances of under-investment which could lead to opportunity loss. The manager must also pose better time management skills to ensure that they are always organized and thus make timely decisions.

Recruitment process

The approach is aimed at filling the position with the best suitable candidate. Targeted recruitment, on the other hand, is mainly directed towards the minority groups in the society such as the disabled, the women among others. The advertisement shown in appendix 2 is an open recruitment process since its aimed at creating a pool of qualified personnel for the available job.

Advertisement

The job advertisement shown in Appendix 2 is a social media-based advertisement through an employment agency. The agency is out to make many by linking an employee with the potential employer. The throwback in this, therefore, is that an individual may be denied a chance to work in an organization of his choice by the agency since they allocate employees based on the employer who pays more commission.

Communication media

The appropriate communication media for me as an applicant is through the email, through the email, a large amount of information about the new job can be shared in an economically viable manner. The information sent is confidential and therefore secure when the email is used my other social media platform rather. Telephone calls may not be as effective and cost friendly as the email. Communication cost, in this case, there is high as the information exchange occurs especially when a large amount of information is involved. The advertisement showed int the appendix displays a better representation of diversity.
