Role of Nurse in Healthcare system
Nurses play important roles because they monitor the lifestyle of the sick, counsel patients on their medical conditions, and improve processes in the entire healthcare system (Masters, 2018). Nurses follow up with patients to provide the required medical resources that treat chronic health conditions such as heart diseases and diabetes. They educate patients on correct health habits to recover quickly from a particular sickness and avoid chances of readmissions in the hospital (Masters, 2018). Care coordination suits many nurses since they concentrate on the whole wellbeing of the patient instead of an episodic problem.
A workaround is a strategy to achieve a particular medical task when the commonly used method fails to work (Debono et al., 2013). For example, the use of mobile technology to collect patient’s data on the bedside replaces the use of paper sheets that remain in the pockets of the nurses. The sheets are the main tools used in data collection when monitoring the health condition of patients. The entire information is irretrievable when the nurse misplaces the written data sheets. Mobile technology allows the nurses to use installed application in their smartphones to collect data from each patient and send it to the central server. The data is recoverable in the server when the smartphone malfunctions.
The workarounds support the operations of nurses during their daily activities. The use of mobile technology to collect information saves time and allows the nurse to protect the records of patients. Nurses are saving lives since they provide accurate information which is used to treat the patient. The change occurred when Nightingale Apps LLC Company developed applications that are installed in the smartphones to allow nurses to collect data from patients (Debono et al., 2013). Nurses use the software to transmit information to other practitioners to plan, evaluate and recommend the appropriate medications to patients.
