Background
Art is an aspect of society. It is experienced at all times and in all actions and reactions in life. It is, therefore, mostly the common thread of life. In most cases, they are seen as part of the cultures that evolve and shape society’s perceptions, motivations, and beliefs. Taken together, these concepts shape the composition of our societies, including cultural complexity, determining technological, political, social, and economic progress and influencing the types of individuals or characters that people will have.
Thesis statement: Art influences society, it translates and changes the opinions of people; it shows the different cultures of many past generations. In contrast, politics shows the controversy between societies thinking, but political art is a way of expressing things that cannot be said by politics to society. Hence, they translate it into art. They hold so many meanings in it, and the three are linked.
The influence of art on society.
Art is formed by everyday events or experiences. When people feel oppressed, when people feel motivated, they feel the need to express themselves. Some might decide to sing, others to create poems while others might resort to paintings. Art can be shaped according to the audience. Society shapes those in love the same shape a song for love as a poem about social injustices. So art directly gets impacted by society, and it also impacts society.
Art has influenced communication. People can be able to communicate to different languages using art. Art is not fixed to a single language. It has influenced the growth of different ideologies in society. These ideologies include groups and societies that fight for human rights or are against oppression. Without art such as music, literature, or even paintings, society could not express their views without fear. Art has also influenced people in the way they interpret things. For example, a poem on social injustice, people have to read between the lines to understand the hidden meaning. This shows that art is a form of improving knowledge and wisdom.
Visual awareness of the environment through paintings and other forms of visual art, such as street art (and other forms), tries to improve the inner self, the problem, and sometimes the differences between the two. Art highlights and presents the different layers of society, sometimes as is or sometimes with modifications, so that the public is very aware of specific art. Three-dimensional sculptures and works of art give an idea of the presence of something that can be perceived, but whose expression can be difficult. Sculptures generally represent decisions, inner feelings, etc. The different materials used in the sculptures are different and vary according to use. The type of material in the room also helps to understand the deeper thinking behind it.
The sculptures leave a lasting impression and influence society to understand the challenges that other people may or may not have. They tell the world that maybe people are all the same on the surface. Traditional works of art like Madhubani and many others tell people about the different communities that exist and practice it. His work of art is his identity. It represents their culture, ethnicity, and ethics, which is particularly important in modern times when people are losing contact with our traditions. Therefore, one must be aware of what happened or must be preserved and tell stories that must be told. Art forms are also primarily responsible for raising awareness of social issues and encouraging the public to come together for a social cause. Graphic and digital art seeks to present thought by creating posters or advertisements and making it accessible to people for an open interpretation. Art is open, but it also influences to some extent and offers a wide range of ideas and a way to bring about change slowly, but with roots.
Politics uses art as a tool.
Politics refers to art as a tool in many ways. First, without art, politics could barely exist. This is because to convince people; one needs to appeal to them. They can either do so by starting a slogan or starting propaganda. These form of art are used as a tool to defeat the opponent. A common slogan is “yes, we can.” This is a form of art that gives hope to people who think they have been discriminated against and believe that they can be champions. This tool makes it easy for people to remember the person when making political decisions. Without them, then it would be hard. Also, music can be singing to champion human rights. An example of a “political song is stand up for your rights.” It acted as a tool since it encouraged people to stand as one to beat the oppressive regime. It made people feel that they needed a leader who had the interest of the nation at heart. In a nutshell, politics uses art as a tool.
Politics in the past, just as today, used art as a trick to hiring people, both for national interests or self-gains. Images were often composed of slogans, words, and sayings to pass some message. This gives more clarity to the point that the image is trying to define. Propaganda was a subtle way of fighting during the First World War, the Cold War, Vietnam, and many more. Countries would create an image of enemies (as Hitler did with the Jews on the Holocaust) and their image (like Uncle Sam for American soldiers). This contributed to the separation of “us” and “them” and to justify these people for what they did.
So art proved to be a political tool since the government could spread political propaganda to defeat their enemies. Posters and political cartoons were the simplest, most obvious, but impossible tool for creating these images. It has been used primarily in advertising campaigns in many different countries for a long time. Art spending has decreased dramatically, but it’s still effective. Since art has become an obvious means of persuasion, it has become a way of resisting propaganda. The call for propaganda has become a general trend in political art. This may take the form of proprietary advertising if the same graphical method is used as a natural counterpart.
Society needs politics for it to continue. This is because each person in society has different ideologies, and it is best to have one leader. Politics creates a society where each person can stand in case he or she feels oppressed. An example is a colonization. Countries were able to stand up through political alliances and fight for their rights and sovereignty. Politics also helps society to choose good leaders. This is because it creates competition among the individuals and ensures that the best candidate wins through massive campaigns and convincing people.
All three are linked.
The three are linked since without society, there is no politics, and without art, also politics could not exist. They are all interdependent since society is responsible for shaping art as well as politics. Society is the one that decides whether to be led by politics or not. For example, if their no social injustices in the society, such as dictatorship oppression of the poor, corruptions, then art would not make sense since there would be nothing to address. So everyday interactions or events lead to the creation of arts. Without politics, art could not exist since some art, such as portraits of some leaders, could not exist. Words can be translated into an image by painting them. This makes the audience interpret the image according to their understanding.
Conclusion
In conclusion, art plays a significant role in society. Without art, a lot of issues that people fear to talk about would be thrown under the table. Art has also opened ways for talented artists who have gone ahead and become successful through art. Lastly, art has facilitated more political formation and famous political sayings and songs.
