Letter to Incoming First Years
Dear First-Year Student,
I am jack Buchanan from east of Los Angeles, having studied at Bright Angeles high school located in the city metropolitans. Bright Angeles institution is a legend to be, given it is where it was shaped me into being a holistic and passionate individual. The profound thing I admire about this high school is the ability to inspire individuals to realize their dreams. The school was keen on talent identification and development, having yielded competitive individuals in all lanes of life. The reason I chose UDC community college is the alignment of its core values with that of my former high school. In semester I have learned persistence and possessing vision is the key to getting motivation in life.
The most challenging aspect of my transition is managing time with an increased level of responsibilities. It is upon one to prepare its budget without restrictions such that one do anything without nothing to worry about the parent. However, the campus counselor is experienced individual evident by how transition seemed smooth under his instructions. I was very eager to discover the campus to witness services have been hearing, such as learning resources, support, and an institution with an exceptional history. However, the most peculiar aspect learned about the institution is its beauty and conducive learning environment where no one his limited to pursue their dreams. The institution staffs are the best in terms of assisting the students in adapting and loving this place.
In the semester, I have learned two main learning strategies that I am considering to implement in the coming semester. The first is learning to use my colleagues in exchanging ideas to create and understand a variety of perspectives. The second one entails trying to relate the concept in real-life situations to have a deeper understanding of real-life issues. Next semester I am thinking of building a reliable network of dedicated colleagues for the exchange of ideas. Also, I am thinking of arranging for seminars and tours on fields relevant to my course to have a factual point of view. In the semester, I have visited cultural events that are organized by the institution. I have discovered a very crucial benefit that is giving the student broader perspectives on the skills learned in the classroom. The tours offer ample student time to internalize and conceptualize the images in class to the real field.
In the semester, I have endured much compelling to make some necessary adjustments. The first is changing friends that add little value to my academic life. The second the negative profiling of experiences on the campus, such as immorality, peer influence, and loss of focus. I also started understanding that to be a learned person is having the key to significant problems in life. It is a kind of empowerment where one is trained to deal with real challenges in life. Society’s eyes are on you hence required to apply skills to deal with a problem. It enables one to make the correct decisions independently. It broadens a sense of self by training one to adapt to emerging challenges and finding appropriate remedies quickly. The exposure has empowered me in making my observation and responding to them to yield necessary outcomes. Thank you for giving me your time. Good luck as you face the next challenge in life.
