Bhanu Choudhrie’s insights on the effects of the pandemic to the airline industry
Bhanu Choudhrie is a successful Indian-British businessman born in India and relocated to London, the UK, in 2000. He attended Boston University, where he studied international business and marketing. As the founder and Executive Director of the London Based Alpha Aviation Group, he has shared some insightful viewpoints on the effects of COVID-19 on the aviation industry.
The Alpha Aviation Group was founded by Bhanu Choudhrie and his team to efficiently give pilots the necessary training to fly low-cost and smaller regional airlines. These airlines don’t have resources and budgets to develop wide-ranging in-house piloting training programs. They tend to outsource most of the training processes from companies like Alpha Aviation Group.
Bhanu stated that airlines took the right measures when the COVID-19 was announced as a pandemic. Although they suffered losses, stopping international flights was the best move to mitigate the spread of the virus.
Bhanu has remained positive that the industry will remain resilient and will stand post-pandemic. While Boeing predicted that over 500,000 pilots would be needed in the world by 2034, Bhanu says that the number will be lower than that due to the pandemic’s impact on the travel industry. While many pilots will be forced to retire in the next few years, Bhanu stated that the need for more pilots would not dramatically reduce.
According to Bhanu, many companies in the aviation industry will be revising their forecast, and they will change their plans for the future. He stated that airlines might be compelled to rethink their fleet sizes, reduce the number of flights per route, and rethink funding after normal flight operations resume.
Coronavirus has changed the travel industry significantly.
The airline industry has been historically known to be resistant to changes. However, Coronavirus has forced many companies to change their outlook. Most people predict that the industry will face many innovations at a very high speed, which the industry has never experienced before. One such area of change is the piloting training, as Bhanu states. He says that his company will work harder to make piloting training more accessible remotely due to the pandemic.
