Question 1
Writing argumentative writing is one of the most required forms of writing, and it’s a writing skill to be able to write argumentative writing.
The four steps in writing and developing an argument are as following:
- State your point of view with clear reasoning which can support your point. For example: if you support public school over the private school, mention it clearly, and you need to include your reason, which in this case can be because we should support more local services and generate more local revenue.
- Give evidence to support your point and preferably include examples. For example: supporting more of public school will increase more government revenue, and that money can be used to build more local schools.
- Include the references and sources of the evidence and make sure to check the reliability and validity of the source used. For example, you can look for online data on government revenue or data on revenue generated by public school versus local school but where ever you take the information from doing include its reference in your writing and before you do that, make sure you ask yourself whether this source is trustworthy.
- Lastly, you need to convince the reader on why your argument is made valid and make the most sense. This comes down on purely on writing skills; once you have gathered all data, it’s your job now to persuade the reader on why is your argument valid.
