Kenya 2008

The program is about the famous Kenyan artist known as Suzanna Owiyo. According to the presenter, what triggered her to host that show was that most of Suzanna’s songs were being listened to in the UK. The songs that were mostly produced by the artist had a message about Kenya. The artist usually praised how the country was beautiful. The most famous songs of the singer Suzzana Owiyo are praises of a town called Kisumu. During the program, the presenter is also distracted by songs from the Northern parts of Kenya (Genders). The songs majorly portray the culture the northern people preserve. Though the songs are against cattle rustling. Kenya is a diverse country with people from more than one tribe. They all have different cultures. Their songs also portray different societal issues.

Suzzana music is simple. She sings in the Kiswahili language. Most of her songs are performed as a solo artist. The instruments that are used in most of her songs are guitars, drums and sometimes piano. The main aim of such instruments is to show that she stills preserves the African culture. Most of her songs are listened to in western countries because of its uniqueness. The genre of her music is African Benga. When compared to modern Jazz music, Suzzana has not changed that much. For the Kenyan natives who live abroad, they feel proud when they listen to their artists. This makes them feel at home even when their miles away. Music is a deep connection between the singer and the audience

The Benga songs also portray some cultures, such as the type of food and also the type of festivals that are usually arranged. The Luo Festival is another festival that incorporates food and drinks into its activities. Originally, Luo’s festivals were held in Kisumu. This is because Kisumu is the capital of the Luo community. The Luo Festival includes the celebration of Luo’s culture and heritage (Genders). A culture cannot be fully celebrated without taking into account its recipes, meals, delicacies, and eating habits. In this sense, the Luo Festival includes an internal food and drink festival. The Food Festival offers participants the opportunity to learn more about the delights and health benefits associated with consuming local and traditional specialties. In addition, the Luo Festival enlightens the public about the ceremonial use of certain traditional foods in the Luo community, which make up the majority of the population in and around Kisumu.

The Food Festival is a gastronomic festival on the shores of Lake Victoria, which aims to raise awareness of Kisumu’s fishing culture. The main inhabitants of the city of Lake Kisumu are the Luo, whose basic and traditional diet consists of Ugali and fish. The main objective of the festival is to give participants the opportunity to eat traditionally cooked fish while enjoying the stunning view of the lake (Genders). In addition, the gastronomic festival aims to exhibit and export recipes for internationally renowned fish dishes, prepared according to Luo culture from around the world. The festival also features other aspects of Luo culture with performances by traditional and cultural artists, as well as musicians from Benga, the famous musical genre of the coastal city of Kisumu, such as Tony Nyandundo and Suzanna Owiyo. This festival usually takes place at the famous hippopotamus Kisumu. The social, economic, and political structure of modern Africa is based on food, not nature.

Kisumu is a large African city near the border with Kenya, and two other countries, Uganda and Tanzania, have played an important role in maintaining the current state of the East African region and, as a result, the country’s current state in modern Africa. One of the ways in which Kisumu feeds and influences the current state of modern Africa is its food festivals, trends, and beer culture.

In conclusion, Benga music culture across Kenya has proved to be popular. Most upcoming artists are taking Benga music to a different level. Some are even trying to market it into different worlds. Most of the Benga fans are mainly baby boomers. They can easily relate to what the current music tries to portray. Music culture has existed in Kenya. Though artists such as Suzanna have helped create a different taste to her people by fusing hip-hop and afro beats. The music is enjoyable since it uses simple instruments.

Today Africa has made a lot of progress and has made progress. Modern Africa exists because it is influenced by many aspects, such as African culture and heritage. To understand modern Africa, it is necessary to have the necessary knowledge of all the great shapers of its existence as it is today. To understand the impact of the Heritage Festival and the different cultures of modern Africa, it is necessary to have the necessary knowledge about the cultures and festivals that are part of the main African cities and their importance to the history of Africa.
