Education Should be Free
All children require education that promotes their skills in that they can develop their decision-making skills, social awareness, and competency in work resulting in becoming a better and productive citizen. In every society, there are people of different economic sectors, such as the weak economic sector, who may not be able to acquire education. This leads to a parent sending their kids to work to participate in meeting their needs. This increases child labor, which violates the child’s right to get an education. To overcome child labor, the government should provide free education in support of low-income families. In recent years the economy is in drastic change; this has affected education prices. Several families are left to struggle financially and have no option to educate their children on the college level. As a result, many bright and competent children miss the opportunity to brighten their future. Thus, somethings require to be changed or done for these families to afford this necessary resource. The government should offer free education.
Also, education should be free. Suppose a student takes a loan for higher education. In that case, some cannot repay, which eventually accrue some substantial interest rate resulting in people being bankrupt and causing financial damage due to debt mass needing to be collected from the students. If education is made free, students will continue with their studies without worrying about paying off debts. They will also be more focused on their education as they will experience no struggle of where to get each term fees. Thus, students will graduate on time and progress to the workforce. If students complete and graduate with debts, it will take the time to settle themselves off debt, which delays them from building up themselves, such as buying land or buying a house. But if students graduate with no debts, this will enhance their development and saving skills, which in turn promotes the country’s economy. Some do not like loans and, therefore, avoid school, which in turn widens the gap in the lower class. People with education better understand society’s history and current economic situations, and they will be motivated to improve their country. Thus, the need for education to be free.
The accessibility of quality education is already open resource and available for anyone, with the motivation to learn it. The continuing view of education as a random thing is a downward spiral, not only for people but also for the nation. People have a few things that they regard as essential and necessary for survival, such as water, food, and shelter. Education must be included in the list of basics. Nowadays, everything is revolving in education. It has been quite clear that in recent years the average American is lagging in science, engineering, and mathematics, allowing the nation itself to fall behind in development and job creation. Education offers talented students to develop their skills that, in return, helps the country solve its problems. As today we are in a hard era of Covid 19, we see so many scientists trying to search for its cure; this is only possible if people are educated. We have not seen any individual who is not educated, attempting it is only professionals who are in the front line. Thus, free education is necessary so that we can have more researchers to handle such threats. It is not only a personal endeavor to become educated. Instead, it is a national interest. The nation has goals of being self-sufficient with most commodities such as energy, fuel, materials, and free education to promote these achievements. Affordability of education affects the betterment of the country’s economy as without meeting required education standards, you will not be able to afford a particular lifestyle. With the rapid change in day-to-day activities, highly qualified personnel are required to perform specific jobs. Thus, the government should provide free education.
Education should be made free because the government wastes a lot of resources, and they should direct these monies to offer free education. This would empower people in technology, economic advancement, and medical discoveries, which would be achieved through education. In turn, the country will have a higher power. In support of free education, Andreas Schleicher claims that it is the best and brightest student who gets access to university, but high fees hinder them. Free education will promote children’s development through higher education. Most bright students come from low-income households, and this should not hold them back, through free education will give them an equal opportunity to excel.
Moreover, nowadays, many companies hire people with a certain level of education and particular qualifications; thus, education should be made free or affordable at a lower cost to make bright children and low-income families afford. As a result, the children will get employment and change their standards of living. Educated citizens earn excellent salaries and also contribute taxes that are essential for government expenses.
On the contrary, education should not be made free as there would be depletion of resources. The increasing number of students would mean more resources. Where would such money come from? The taxpayers would be overburdened with tax rise to cover free education. The government will have a burden in sustaining free education. It may fail to support other departments that are also essential to the country, such as medical and security departments. Also, the university resources would be depleted, and this will make free education not worth as no education resources available, meaning poor quality education. Free education will call for more funds for university requirements such as more dormitories, labs, and classrooms. This will not be possible for a university or school that has no fees getting in to afford such. It should not be free because some degrees that people pursue require more resources than others without fee to facilitate it will be difficult for such degrees to be pursued. Free education may work against the government system as there will be a high number of graduates, while the job industry gives fewer opportunities to these graduates. Even in countries where they have made primary and secondary education free, the schools still ask the parents to pay specific amounts of money to enable learning activities. So, it can never be free.
Making education free will make students not value education, especially at the university level. Like in public schools, university education, if free, will be diluted. The current high prices drive the students to complete studies to reduce the financial burden. Besides, free education will make students take longer in school to graduate as they can differ education and return at any time. Education should not be free but affordable. Teachers will also be made lazy to work as there will be no questions from the parents of why the kids are performing poorly. Thus, education should not be free to attach the parents in child education. College fees filter those who are willing to pay for their education. The fee also helps the school/colleges/universities to function well and upgrade their facilities for better learning hence offer quality education. Besides, it is a person’s choice to go to college. Therefore it is their responsibility to pay. Furthermore, it is the parents’ role to educate their children and not be a burden to others as some do not have the capabilities of bearing kids.
Affluent families take their children to private schools where quality education is offered. Suppose the government offers free education and makes private schools close. In that case, this will result in affluent families relocating to other countries in search of quality education, which has unfavorable economic effects. As a result of free education, the shutdown of private schools will make owners, teachers/lecturers, and other staff lose their jobs. Thus, degrading the country’s economy. When wealthy families relocate, in search of quality education, they probably also move with their businesses. Education should not be free to allow quality education in private schools that wealthy families go for. Free education should be for kids from low-income families.
Education should not be free, as colleges/schools would avoid many students by raising their entry grades to cut down the number. Many capable students will be cut out and end up not acquiring the skills required in daily activities. Due to the disappointment of not getting entry points for college education, many young people will engage in criminality to meet their needs. Thus, education should not be free, so that reasonable grade cut allows young people to go to college or universities to improve their lives.
In conclusion, education should be free to improve children’s skills in being better citizens and help low-income families whose children perform well. To reduce the government wastage of resources by channeling them to free education. To allow students to attain a certain level of education that is needed in the job industry, boost the country’s economy-more qualified personnel to develop themselves and improve society, eliminate debt burden, promote equal educational opportunities.
On the other hand, education should not be free because the quality of education will be affected; colleges will raise their grades to cub overcrowding and depletion of their resource. To avoid overburdening taxpayers in the name of free education, it will promote seriousness in students and work hard to have the value of the education they paid for.
