ISOL 532 – Telecommunications & Network Security
Introduction:
You are team of IT professionals working at an organization that provides computer networking and network security services. I am the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Southworth DeSassure Enterprises, an organization with offices in the United States. I have contracted you to identify a network security issue and provide us with recommendations for resolution. Our organization has provided you with information on our current organizational structure below.
Organizational Structure:
Southworth DeSassure Enterprises employs 500 people that work in two locations within the United States: Seattle, WA and Dallas, TX. Southworth DeSassure Enterprises generates $200 million in annual revenue through its business model, a huge target for hackers or criminals. The business has a presence on the web. The primary data center is housed at their primary location in Dallas. The Seattle office houses a backup/failover data center. The Dallas site has four floors and the Seattle site has two. At the Dallas site, there are 20 connections on the 4th floor, 80 connections on the 3rd floor, 100 connections on the 2nd floor, and 100 connections on the 1st floor, including the data center, which is also housed on the 1st floor. Both of the floors at the Seattle location have 100 connections each. The two sites are linked to one another through a dedicated connection.
Through VPN services, employees have the ability to work on the network from anywhere in the world. All employees have company-issued laptops that can be docked when working in the office and taken offsite for remote access. All employees-issued devices are running Windows 10 and their server is running Windows 2012.
Your Task:
Address one key network security problem that this organization’s network faces and through scholarly research, address it.
Preparing your paper:
You can choose or make up the nature of Southworth DeSassure Enterprises’ business. You can also assign any additional configuration or networking policy to the organization that has not been listed above. Identifying a particular type of business or a particular network configuration can help you to identify your problem. For Example, if Southworth DeSassure Enterprises is a social networking company, that presents a unique set of problems you can pull from in identifying the problem that your group will address though research.
You will need to back up your claims with source material, at least half of which should be scholarly.
You should prepare a paper using Microsoft Word.

Submission:
You will have the option to submit your paper to iLearn twice.
The first time you submit your paper, you will receive a SafeAssign score in the form of a percentage of the likelihood that your submission was plagiarized. If the SafeAssign score is under 20%, then I assume there is no plagiarism and your group will not need to resubmit the paper. If it is above 20%, then there may be some issues of plagiarism that will need to be addressed to prevent your group from receiving a failing grade for the course. If you do receive a SafeAssign score that is higher than 20%, please ask me for assistance and I will help you reduce it. The second submission of the paper is the last chance you have to get it right.
