HELB repayment
I am Benson Anjejo Abila, ID NO 32567491. I took my undergraduate studies at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, enrolled in BSC. Civil Engineering. I graduated in November 2019 and am currently interning at Korando Non-Formal Education Centre.
I would like first to appreciate the support and consistent allocation of the loan that helped pay my fees and take care of various University expenses.
I am writing to you about the monthly repayment plan prepared for monthly deductions w.e.f August 2020, pursuant to the HELB Act of 1995, with a rate of repayment of 4,222 is due on Aug 2020.
I am kindly requesting a review of the amount due to my current salary allocation. I am being paid 15,000Ksh, with a loan deduction of 3,000Ksh that I had taken to help cover medical expenses for my mother. I am also paying NSSF, Union, and NHIF, which leave me around 10,800Ksh a month.
This figure is not enough to cover my expenses due to my rent 5,000Ksh, food 3,000Ksh, and transport costs 2,000Ksh that I use every month. I can hardly pay at the moment, but I know it’s my obligation, and I would also love to see another student’s dream come true because of my compliance.
I, therefore, request you to review and allow me to pay the minimum permitted figure. I will have to redefine my expenditure, but I know it is for the best.
I am looking forward to your positive response to this.
