Using an outline to plan my work helps in organizing my ideas on the topic of discussion by going ahead of time. It makes work easier for me because when I sit down and write them down, I find myself well familiarized with the entire work and what is required of me. This is for the reason that it allows me to categorize paragraphs in an order that makes sense, and make sure that each idea is fully developed. Similarly, the outline helps me plan my work and manage the time given to work on given tasks. An example is when I take a look at the outline; I get to know what has been done and what needs to be done.
My experience in using outlines has, with this, been great as I manage to tackle all tasks within the list without having to leave anything behind. Before I begin writing my assignments, I always come up with an outline. Depending on the type of outline I chose to use, I always detail each topic and subtopic to be addressed in the paper, organizing them so that they build my argument towards an evidence-based conclusion.
It is a great idea to make my outline a research outline by developing a reference page and inserting citations into the outline as it helps in the formulation of ideas of the paper. According to Kannan (2017), research papers require the use of an outline to encourage the writer to gather enough resources needed for the study. In this case, including the reference page and citations in my research will help in identifying areas where information on the topic can be gathered easily. It will help save time and minimize cases where I can easily get lost while writing the research paper. The outline will as well be essential in providing me with a guideline that I will stick to in developing good research.
