The people of Israel ask Samuel to appoint a King for them
The people of Israel could not cope with the highest form of authority that God had instituted for them, and this prompted them to ask Samuel to appoint a King for them like other nations who had Kings as their ruler. God wanted Israel to be a holy nation, but when the Israelites revolted against God’s way of leadership, God provided earthly rulers even though this was not according to His eternal purpose. (1 Sam 8:6-10)
The Israelites had been warned by Samuel that having a King to be their ruler would subject their sons to work for the King in the army. The King would also take the best land and exploit their daughters to work for Him. After all this, the Israelites would turn back to God to take away their burdens but instead, God would not listen to them. (1 Sam8:16-18).The Israelites had disobeyed God by asking Samuel to appoint them a King instead of following the authority instituted by God.
God sent prophets to convey his message to the people by sending prophets. According to Islamic beliefs, a prophet was chosen for each nation. (Quran, 2:136) .Muslims believe in and honour all the prophets. In the same faith, they are also obligated to testify that the coming of Prophet Muhammad completed prophethood. In my view, the issue of one becoming a prophet is yet to be unfolded further.
God promised David that He would settle them and keep them safe from all the enemies as second Samuel 7: 10 showcase. God also promised that the Kingdom of Israel would be established forever. (2 Samuel 7:13-16)
