This is a warrior’s prayers for justice and fulfilment. David petitions God, to for justice, for God to remove his enemies and render them harmless. Enemies endanger people’s lives and wellbeing. They cause a lot of harm, physical, emotional, and spiritual harm which is detrimental. It is probably worthy to ask if God gives his servants wages for what they do? What is clear is that good works can lead to providence, grace as well as peace and harmony.
It is more honor to be a servant of god rather than of humans. God is a master who does not abandon his servants, and the bible states that there is not a time that his servants are forsaken. God’s mercy for his people is the punishment of their enemies.
If enemies are let to prosper in their undertakings, they will destroy the very form of godliness. Thus enemies have to be rendered powerless and harmless. The destruction of the enemies is equated to the arresting of robbers or pirates, and punishing them. This serves as mercy to the society. The society is saved from such atrocities. The enemies are made powerless to do mischief.
David as a servant of god, is set out to work for god and not for his personal gain, and thus if the danger is removed, then he will serve god well. He desires that god slays his enemies as that will present justice, which is mercy for the church. For instance the death of Herod, pharaoh and other troublers served as mercy to the church. Just as Paul is a servant of Christ, David is he servant of god, his master. The servant seeks protection from master because he bongs and serves the master.
The master is to protect his servant so that the servant can go on to serve him fully.
As we go on our day to day activities in life, we have a lot of tasks and duties which look unto us to fulfil. At times the tasks at hand become enormous and difficult to accomplish due to many factors. For instance at work places, we may end up not achieving our targets. This could be as a result of challenges and setbacks which are brought about by the colleagues around us. Moreover it could be brought about by health problems. When we are faced with such obstacles and setbacks, which derail us from our goals, then we are bound to seek for assistance and help from any quarters.
The clear cut out place that we seek help from is from the authorities that we work under. If it is a challenge with colleagues, we end up seeking help and guidance from our superiors so that they may intervene in our situation. Their intervention is bound to reset us onto our earlier paths to achieve the desired results. This is the same case, where we all at times need to ask for protection and assistance from God, for him to scatter and punish those who hate us and are out to derail us from our spiritual lives.
