Dear Class,
For our first week, you will be posting your introductions, completing your case pre-assessment and posting your journal article summaries on the discussion board.
Please be sure to choose articles published only in 2017 or 2018. Please also include either the pdf file or a link to the actual article.
In your summaries, always include the
(1) author (can be listed as Smith et al., 2017)
(2) journal name
(3) year of publication and
(4) clinical application.
Please also be careful to avoid summarizing an article a classmate has already posted.
Have a great week,
Dr. Cobb

Post a current evidence based journal article with relevance to the case topic within this discussion forum (Atrial Fibrillation). Summarize the article and either attach the article or provide the link to the article (if obtained through SFU Library or open source). Discuss clinical applications of the information and how it may influence treatment approaches within their summary. In addition, read other students’ articles and post quality responses to 3 or more classmates. See grading rubric for specific grading criteria on original posting and response expectations.
Please type directly into the text box (do not attach a file containing the article summary).
Please be sure to choose articles published ONLY in 2016 or 2017. Please also be careful to avoid summarizing an article a classmate has already posted. In your summaries, always include the following information.
(1) Reference in APA format including the author (can be listed as Smith et al.), title, journal name & year of publication (must be 2016 or 2017).
(2) Summary of the key information in the article: location, number and type of study participants, findings, conclusions. One well written paragraph is sufficient.
(3) Clinical application of the article- 1 or 2 sentences.
(4) URL link to the full article (not just the abstract) or pdf of the article
For example (please note that my example is out of date):
Reference: Cobb, T.G. (2008). Brain abscess as a sign of a hereditary disease. Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants 21, 29-32.
Summary: This article details a case study of a 38 year old…
Clinical Application: This article illustrates the need for clinicians to search for other sources for rare infections.
