PROJECT MANAGEMENT SEMINAR

COURSE OUTLINE

1. COURSE PURPOSE

The purpose of this course is to assist the students to develop in-depth understanding of the critical body of knowledge of theoretical, conceptual, and empirical knowledge in project management. It will also facilitate acquisition of research as well as professional skills necessary for understanding project management issues and its complete execution.

1. COURSE OBJECTIVE

In the seminar the student will be able to:

1. Study, analyze and apply various project management theories
2. Conduct research and develop critiques on topical project management issues.

3. Strategic Project Management
4. Project Management Information Systems (PMIS)
5. Project Procurement Management
6. Project Quality And Risk Management
7. Project Planning And Design
8. Project Monitoring, Control And Evaluation

1. ADMINISTRATION OF THE COURSE

The class sessions will be conducted on a seminar basis. Each student will make presentations on assigned topics and papers.  The Format:

1. Introduction (maximum 1page)
2. Main body (Maximum 10 pages)
3. Conclusion. (Maximum 1 page)
4. References

The presentation must be based on thorough research in the available literature. The paper to be presented will be neatly typed, 1.5 spacing on A4 size papers, at least 8 pages and a maximum of 12 pages. A complete list of references must be provided.

Each student will be required lead in discussion of the articles/papers assigned to him/her.

• Written seminar paper 20%
• Critiques of assigned articles/papers 20%
• Final Examination 60%
