Florida history
Florida, over the past centuries, has remained among the biggest economy states in the United States. The economy is extremely diversified with agriculture and tourism among the top industries. In the 1800s, Florida had resort areas that became a haven for everyone who had vacations and needed a place to enjoy themselves. Due to the warm weather and mild winters, the state has always been a tourist destination area hence boosting its economy. Good transport infrastructure is also a major contribution to the economy of Florida. The citrus industry has also been a significant factor in the economy of Florida for the past hundred years. Forestry and mining are also among the economic contributions in the region. A region with a better economy is said to have better political and social stability. Thus, economic growth and political stability are related to each other. Poor economic performance leads to government collapse and political unrest. The balanced economic state of Florida has ensured social stability in this region and has promoted harmonious coexistence.
Geographically Florida is located in the peninsula that protrudes in the southeastward from the North American continent. It lies within the coast of the Atlantic Ocean in the Gulf of Mexico. Due to its geographical, climatic conditions and the beautiful scenery, the “Sunshine State” has attracted a large number of tourists. Due to its strategic geographic location, Florida is full of natural resources such as minerals, forests, citrus fruits, seafood’s, coastlines and saw palmetto. Each of these plays a vital role in the state’s economy. Geography of Florida has changed the lifestyle of the people within this region as they try to cope with foods and climatic patterns of the area.
The Florida government politics revolves around the 1968 revision of its constitution of 1885. The government has implemented several essential constitutional prohibitions and the tax exemptions such as the prohibition against inheritance tax and personal income tax and the exemption relating to homestead. Taxes exemption for the income tax has seen the increase in a number of small businesses, a situation that has reduced unemployment rates among the societies in the state. Additionally, this has increased the sales of imports and exports due to increased shipping. Such political decisions lead to increased Gross Domestic Product; hence the state ends up in a healthy economy.
The social culture of Florida is not different from the rest of Southern American culture. The immigrants from Europe and Latin America have influenced most of the urban culture in Florida. Florida is said to be the center of the international crossroad. Florida culture is said to have been influenced by tourism, which is one of the important industry in the state. The increase rate of the population is higher than in most states in the country. The major economic driving force includes hotels, tourism, restaurants and leisure activities. Most people come to the state for employment and works in different fields of infrastructure expansion, construction, financial planning and banking industries. The other economic factors are recreational and commercial fishing. These activities and cultural practices have led to the social stability of the region.
Technology is one most valued economic developments in Florida. The state’s government values the role of technology in its economy. Manufacturing industries have deployed the use of technology in the production of goods, and these industries have offered employed to many people. Since the introduction of technology, the state has several technological institutes that train people on the necessary skills applied in technological industries. As a result, the state’s economy has taken huge steps in terms of improvement. Due to the stable politics of the state, it has attracted a large number of investors to invest in Florida economic activities such as manufacturing and tourism.
For instance, due to the increased economic improvement of the people of living in Florida are likely to have high standards of living. This is due to the increased incomes from a number of economic activities. Florida is predicted to be among the states with the best economic status in the United States. The states GDP is likely to increase over the years. Generally, the rates of unemployment in the future is expected to reduce due to the increased number of jobs from different economic sectors such as tourism, agriculture, and manufacturing industries.
