The main aim of this reflective essay is to analyze the different nursing theories that explain the origin of various nursing standards and ideologies in regards to care for patients. In studying Bachelor of Science in Nursing, an individual is endowed with skills such as Interpersonal communicational skills that help an individual in effectively communicating with their patients and staff. Nurses are endowed with the skills on how to teach health education that is essential in health awareness and disease prevention knowledge that is disseminated through patients and the community at large. Nurses are endowed with professional skills such as respect, human dignity, social justice, altruism, and autonomy to ensure that there are standard care and treatment offered to patients across the globe.

Moreover, nurses are also taught basic organizational and system leadership to enhance smooth workflow and organization when assigning roles to various individuals. There are several theories in nursing practice that are essential in offering liberal education in nursing because the theories have been used in giving explanations pertaining to the roots of violence in various institutions and the behavioral mechanism among patients who have undergone specific. For instance, some theories are psychosocially and cultural bounds (Choi, Heilemann, Fauer & Mead,2020).

The exchange theory posits that batters hit individuals when they can when they factor in issues such that the cost cannot outweigh the reward when practicing violence. Additionally, the feminist and the Intraindividual theory posits that violence is triggered by certain aspects in an individual’s life and societal influence about certain ideologies in life. Liberal education attempts to explain the dynamics behind various actions that might lead to physical or mental torture. The human experience revolves around liberal educational theories that depict the behavioral characteristics of a chain of events that can be explained to give account for an outcome (Whelpley & Feurer,2019).

I have learned the essence of using of skills of inquiring since they are essential in the care and treatment of the patient. Patients might help send verbal and non-verbal communication to nurses to express how they feel and the kind of services they would like to be accorded. Moreover, in analyzing a patient’s progress, preferences, cultural and religious background. I have learned that nurses can understand the needs of the patient by being objective in trying to seek ways to provide culturally congruent care and treatment to their patients (Choi, Heilemann, Fauer & Mead,2020). A well-structured patient-centered care plan is akin to the patient’s health and wellbeing. As a nurse, professing information literacy skills is essential in tracking the patient’s response to treatment, progress, and understanding the general needs of the patient to avoid the crisis that might be brought about due to negligence and irresponsibility.

Due to challenges such as language barriers, illiteracy, physical disabilities, and incapacitation, patients might not be able to effectively communicate with their health caregivers. Additionally, there is an impending rise in diverse population rates in western countries. As a result, nurses ought to effectively communicate with their patients to respond to the medical needs of their patients in a timely and efficient manner. Using written, Nonverbal and verbal communications are used to facilitate patient- health caregiver communication (James & Gilliland, 2017).

Moreover, a nurse can use an interpreter to help her understand what the patients are saying. Communication is crucial to understanding a patient’s needs. Patients from diverse populations are faced with many challenges thus they might feel left out or discriminated due to lack of effective facilitation of their cultural, geographical, and ethnic representation. Additionally, patients from diverse populations might not have the privilege of being attended by a nursing practitioner or a health caregiver who understands their ethnoreligious backgrounds (James & Gilliland, 2017).

Nurses and other caregivers should strive to understand the cultural and religious background of the patient in regards to health practices to give culturally congruent medical care and treatment and uphold the core values and principle of nursing practice such as social justice, autonomy, altruism, human dignity and respect in giving patient-centered treatment. Lifelong learning in nursing is essential due to the outbreak of a chronic disease such as the Corona Virus. There are ambiguity and unpredictability in the modern-day society in regards to disease patterns and outbreaks. Therefore, nurses and other caregivers should continually study, engage in research, join medical forums and organizations that offer medical information to be up to date with health information about the change in practice, the standard of treatment and other essential medical information pertaining various drugs and issues that are related to health education. Due to the changes in the health care sector, an increase in diverse populations across the globe, and high demand in the medical field, individuals have resolved to seek conventional medical treatment. There is a need for health caregivers and physicians to educate themselves about complementary and alternative medical therapies to enhance patient’s outcomes in treating various diseases (Choi, Heilemann, Fauer & Mead,2020).
