We’re making great progress transforming the city center and waterfront into an awesome people-friendly environment. Even though COVID-19 has put us a little behind, we’re still planning to have everything ready, and the first half of 2021, the seawall strengthening and the new footpath on the southern side of the key street are almost finished. And the ferry bison, two new ferry boats operational Egberts three and four, are expected to be complete by the end of 2020. Construction of Tijuana, the exciting new public space in the ferry basin, will be ready in early 2021, providing a meeting place to relax and connect to opens downtown waterfront to speed up progress and allow works to finish earlier. We’re closing part of the eastbound lane on the key street until December 2020. This means the eastbound lane from lower Hobson Street to Queens Wharf will be closed If you’re driving wished on the key street from the eastern base, don’t worry, your travel route will be unchanged. If you’re in the city centre traveling towards the eastern base, please use custom street access to the viaduct and Princess wolf as business as usual. Traffic exiting princess wolf will have to travel straight to heat onto the lower hub street overbridge or use the slip lane round to custom street ticket east. If you’re traveling north, the motorway is a great option if you’re driving from the North Shore to the eastern base, continue on the motorway taking the port exit to avoid going through the city center. Thank you for your patience while we get on with transforming Auckland’s waterfront. Please allow extra time and follow the signs. The at Metro network of trains buses and ferries can help get you from A to B. So why not leave the car at home and let us do the driving.
