When security organizations come together to collaborate, there are many benefits associated with it. Interagency collaboration engages employees in the agency towards better productivity by enhancing work execution. Ward et al. (2018) explain that interagency collaboration is beneficial in that different agencies to do various duties using customized expertise and resources. These agencies work in partnership with promoting social offenders inclusion. The coordination between the security agencies is necessary to the cumbersome need of identifying and tracking down offenders for better safety in society.
Lack of coordination between intelligence agencies had cost the US when it was hit on 911 by terrorists that had devastating effects on Americans like loss of lives. Since then, the sharing of information from individual agencies has made it easy for intelligence service to identify and counterattack terrorists attack American soil. This has helped America safe from terror attack as they are intercepted on time. Fusion centres play a crucial role in bridging the gap between security and the criminal justice system. They make up the focal point of data analysis, Intel gathering and sharing of potentially useful information that could be used to prosecute offenders. Fusion centers bridge how information flows between the federal government and the individual fusion centres.
The fusion centres also serve as partners to bodies of all agencies in the government. The centres share this information, maintaining privacy, discreteness, and civil rights of American citizens (Ward et al. 2018). Fusion centers support the protection of its civil rights and private information, retaining trust and confidence. In conclusion, we perfectly see that interagency collaboration is an important ingredient that the criminal justice system needs to implement efficiency in public protection and productivity in crime detection and prevention.
