WHY SHOULD MARIJUANA BE LEGALIZED
INTRODUCTION
Marijuana, which is considered a drug in most countries, is legalized in a few others due to various reasons. In this research, we look at some of why marijuana should be legalized and why it should not. Some countries have legalized it because of its uses even though its possession and use is still illegal in most states.
RACIAL DISCRIMINATION
While so many African countries do not allow the use or even possession of marijuana, most of the people affected by these laws that are against the use of marijuana are Africans. Most Africans are arrested and even jailed for the long term while the whites sell, use, and even own marijuana farms freely, and if arrested, it’s for a short while, and they are released. Due to this fact, marijuana should be legalized to end racial discrimination.
THE ENFORCEMENT IS CRUEL
People who are arrested and jailed face more problems like torture etc. Some arrested outside Africa are separated from families, exposed to harsh conditions in foreign lands sometimes even mistreated in jails, causing them poor health conditions. Since these people sell marijuana to make a living, it should be legalized to eradicate this great challenge of unemployment faced globally.
PROFITABLE TAXING
Marijuana being one of the world’s expensive drug, can be a perfect market for the government. Sellers of marijuana can be taxed positively, making a good profit on taxes.
LESS HARMFUL
As much as marijuana is harmful to one’s health, it also has benefits, especially medicinal ones. When you compare the harm other drugs cause to humans health to that of marijuana, then marijuana is less harmful and beneficial to some extend.
