Learning objectives
Learning objectives are essential that a student should be able to capture at the end of a unit/class/ course that they could not manage before starting a particular unit. A good learning objective should be SMART to comprehend, according to Bonner, (2019). For an elementary children subject, their units are designed to improve their reasoning and creative skills. Examples of objectives include:
- To comprehend the power of different types of languages (academic). In this objective, an elementary student is expected to master the types of languages, who are the convenient audience (native speakers of that language) and the conformers of that language. Besides, it is a requiry to know the conditions while speaking a certain language to be on par with ethics and codes of conduct in that particular language.
- Using formal and informal language
- The measures of speaking and writing the appropriate language.
- Teaching methods on how to use a range of writing and speaking styles appropriately in a different audience.
- To understand the modes of communication at home (technology). Home appliances and gadgets are fundamental to communication. Elementary students should be exposed to means of technological communication so that if there are issues, they can call concerned parties. For instance, parents of the police. The students are expected to understand the modes of communication and the condition to which they are supposed to use them. The audience here is the people to be called.
- Distinguish between formal and no-formal communication at home
- Understand the different types of gadgets used to communicate
- Synthesis of the forms of social media platforms
- Understand the most convenient method of communication at home in case there is a problem.
