Online schooling vs. face-to-face schooling
In my opinion, I prefer the digital learning environment. Face-to-face would be non-beneficial to students due to how fast the virus can spread. There are not too many options to assist in social distancing all of the students in the school. Teachers and Administrators cannot force each student to wear masks every day for the entire 7 hours of education.
Covid-19 is extremely contagious. It can be spread through coughing, sneezing, or even just talking. After all this time away from friends and going back to traditional schooling, students will be obliged to talk to others. Some people forget to cover their nose and mouth while sneezing and/or coughing, and when they do, they may cover it with their hand instead of their elbow. This can also do a lot of damage. The germs from the cough or sneeze can travel up to 6 to 8 feet. Even if you’re distancing yourself from others, just a tiny cough could infect them.
Administrators cannot distance their students quite enough. In the classroom, you could separate the desks, but that’s not enough. During class change, students will obviously have to walk past each other in the halls. Just breathing on someone could give them germs. This would be dangerous if there were to be hallway traffic, and people would be clumped together.
Keeping a mask on for 7 hours would be exhausting. Masks can tend to be slightly uncomfortable and hard to breathe in. Students would possibly take them off when people aren’t looking just to get fresh air. This also takes effect during lunchtime. In order to eat, you obviously must take off the mask. No one would have a mask on for the full 30 or so minutes of lunch and would be in a cafeteria together eating. This leads back to the spreading of germs because some friends like to share food with others.
In conclusion, going back to a traditional school is definitely not a good idea. I’m pretty sure no student wants to be around another person in which they don’t know who they’ve been around or where they’ve been. Continuing with the digital learning until all of the virus business passes is the best option for everyone right now.
