“Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.” Is a quote by Helen Keller, which is aimed at showing the importance of teamwork. Teamwork is essential for any activity being carried out as teams do not work well without teamwork. In every team, there must be a leader, and the leader mainly determines the team’s success since he or she is in charge of the whole team (George, 2015). Teamwork brings new ideas to the table since many people are involved, and therefore they can give their different opinion and then the best view can be taken. Teamwork also builds morale, especially if the team leader gives everyone an equal opportunity to be heard (Sala, Reyes & McDaniel, 2018). It is essential that everyone participates equally and that a conducive environment is created where everyone can be free to air their opinions and concerns.
One of the questions raised by the reflection is: How often do you involve members when making a decision that is likely to affect a group? I tend to make sure that I get everyone’s opinion on certain matters, especially if they will be affected by the outcome immensely. So I regularly ensure that I involve other group members before making a decision, especially if the decision will affect them. Everyone should be able to give their opinion so that they are not oppressed silently. The other question that can be raised is: how do you decide if people do not agree on a certain matter? In this case, I consider the number of people who favor a decision and then conclude that the best decision is that where many people feel it best. However, for this to happen, the decision itself has to be reasonable.
