Diversity and Health Assessment
The socio-economic, spiritual, and lifestyle factors are paramount in establishing the health history of a Caucasian male with a past addiction related to alcohol and cocaine. In the case study, establishing a 54-year male lifestyle is the basis of building his health history. In this regard, there is a need to investigate his past and present frequency of smoking and the process that he adopted during alcohol and drug cessation (Wannasirikul et al., 2016). The problem might also have resulted from his constraining living conditions due to a poor socio-economic standard (CDC, 2015). Additionally, there are possibilities of the seizures, having arisen from the process of termination, hence, the need to employ more evidence-based approaches to reducing the use of alcohol and cocaine (Ball et al., 2019). Such a procedure would result in healthy living that prevents further incidences of seizures.
To build a patient’s health history, I would ask culturally sensitive questions aimed at establishing the patients’ perception of alcohol and cocaine termination (See questions at the end). I will frame the questions in an empathetic way that does not manifest criticism of the patient’s lifestyle (. However, they will aim at fostering self-discovery and capable of leading to full recovery in the long run. The questions relevant to the patient will also reflect careful consideration of a humble socio-economic standard since the patient is currently homeless and unable to access amlodipine 10 mg.
One of the significant challenges involved in dealing with patients from economically-challenged backgrounds is the difficulty in maintaining sensitivity during communication. Additionally, since the patient is a past addict, addressing the issue of addiction should be consistent with their unique interests and not the universal social ethics (Dains, Baumann & Scheibel, 2015). In this regard, I will dwell more on objective and open-ended questions to establish a patient history.
Questions
- How would you describe your physical conditions after abstaining from alcohol and cocaine use?
- Do you think smocking will increase your physical stability, or is it merely an alternative to another solution?
- Do you find it easy to cope with others in your living area?
- Do you hope to smoke for some time and terminate it or is a practice you do not think of leaving at all
