Black Lives Matter Support

Often times, there are so many problems in our society. Conflicts, wars, murders, riots, among others, are vivid examples. With all this, it is only natural to think ourselves inferior as subjects of change. We tend to feel that our opinions and actions are too minute to count. Reflecting back, history disagrees on several occasions whereby regular individuals made great achievements, and they became instruments of change. Therefore, one can choose to be of influence to the world in their small way or just sit back and watch situations get worse. One of the main challenges we face as a nation and globally is police brutality. It is not just an African American problem but an American issue. This injustice directly or indirectly affects all parties. Police brutality does not just happen across racial lines; it happens to close ties like friends, family, or even neighbors(Updegrove et al. 96). This kind of injustice destroys communities and even fuels racial division instances in America. In simpler terms, we can choose to have a hand in supporting the black lives matter movement. Here are some of them.

It has been statistically proven that protests play a significant role in change. Go to protests. Protests aren’t about violence and disorder, involving yourself in peaceful and lawful protests as seen all around our nation amplifies your opinion and stand on issues, in this case, being black lives matter. Walkouts are effective in delivering a message, be it in large groups, school driven groups, among others. Using or joining social media to influence is also an efficient way to make your opinion count and voice heard.

Organizing supplies is another sure way to help in the black lives matter movement. You can decide to provide amenities and necessities to the protestors. This helps them keep focused, driven, and feel appreciated. Provisions like food, water, and shelter can go a long way in helping the protestors. We cannot also ignore the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19, and utilities like masks, hand towels, or face gags can also positively impact.

We might not be actively involved in protests, but we could know someone who would love to but cannot because they have children. One can come in and offer a helping hand by offering child care. You can babysit in such cases but take some things into consideration. You must be close to the child in question, he or she must feel comfortable around you, and the parents have full trust in you. The child should also understand the whereabouts of their parents or, if not, keep them distracted enough. Your home should be vastly equipped for this.

Supporting this movement should also be about standing with the victims and their families. In most cases, some of the victims’ families are left with costs to tend for in different forms be it legal costs or funeral arrangements.one can directly donate whatever they can or find channels in which to do so like legitimate fund accounts which are verified and set up on behalf of them. There can also be instances where a protestor may be arrested and cannot afford bail or stuck for some other reason (Holt, and Matthew 25). You can chip in and see if there is any way you can help funding them out or providing them with the necessary aid they would need.

Importantly, we have to realize that black lives matter movement is not a war against the police. It is only subjective to the rotten few who choose to act ignorantly at the expense of a citizen. Such cops should not hold the badge, to begin with. We should push to eradicate such officers and seek justice while at it. These officers choose to assault the vulnerable instead of serving and protecting them, the kind who are trigger happy and think that they are above the law, such men and women should not exist in the police task force. They undermine the very reason it exists. Such officers should be punished. You can expose such an officer by contacting his or her superior or by revealing their identity to the public, followed by demanding them to be relieved off their duties.
