Interaction with Technology
I am 20 years old and was brought up and live in the United States. I was brought up by an American family one embraced traditional family values, cultural appreciation, and dedication. Growing up, my parents molded me with perspectives that made my youth full of uncertainties. I participated in rugby sports in high school and still do in college. I am well conversant with technology in that I know how to operate many gadgets that are technology-enabled. I would, therefore, consider myself as a digital immigrant since I came to learn later in the life of these skills because I was brought up in a traditional family.
I have a friend whose name is George, 21 years of age who comes from a British American family. He lives in the united states and was brought up in a modernized family, one that was influenced by the American way of life. He went to high school at a school in California, one that was well established in that it offered some classes on the computer. He is very conversant with technology and can, therefore, be considered as a digital native.
People born in the world of technology often are more experienced with technology compared to a person of the age who was introduced to technology later on in life. For instance, one difference can be seen since a digital native is more likely to stream most things online, whereas a digital immigrant still uses a boxed DVD. Also, a digital native posses a kindle while an immigrant has a book. While a digital immigrant s getting reconnected with her friends on online social platforms, a native did not lose contact. Therefore the difference is that the digital natives are ahead of immigrants in terms of technology.
