A judge and a court clerk
As in this exercise, I picked the paper slips bearing the titles of a judge and a court clerk. Judges are typically tasked with the role of maintaining order in the courtroom and declaring their verdict to the defendant. On the other hand, court managers have to participate in managerial and secretarial tasks which are necessary for the court’s references.
Judges generally have more power than court administrators. They have the authority to set the hearing date and also dictate the final ruling. On the contrary, court clerks have to file records, conduct quality checks for all the documents, and to ensure consistency in all files. Additionally, judges can interfere with the recorded hearing date (Devlin, 2015); this implies that the court clerks will have to change their recorded hearing dates. A judge can also dismiss a case, making the court clerks seize filing any records at this juncture.
