Online Effectiveness
The primary three skills for online teachers that I consider essential include availability, support, and excellent communication. The teacher should be present in the online platforms so that the students can access their services anytime they require (Peggy et al., 2014). Most of the students who study online have different schedules for their studies, and therefore, online teachers need to be available when needed. The online teacher needs to have polished communication skills so that information is conveyed to the students. Students require a teacher who responds to their emails and questions within a short time. Finally, online teachers need to be supportive because they huggle with work from job and family responsibility.
Some of the characteristics of a useful online course include active participation by the students and the instructors. The learning should also present real-life projects and case studies in the assignments so enable students to learn and be updated (Meyer & Murrell, 2012). The cites also should have quality instructors so that the students have confidence in their learning. Students also value having personal instructors so that they do not mix up the content and their progress. They can choose instructors who best suit them.
I think the use of demonstration simulations and similar activities has several benefits. The first benefit is that it makes learning enjoyable. Students can relate more with the course and therefore, would understand the course more. The demonstration, for example, gives a real example of what theory is trying to explain, and this would stick in the mind of the students. Where the teacher s not clear, these activities serve to hint the students on what is being taught and this way, understand the subject more.
