Goals are some of the most important elements since they help to improve the state of a person in various places. New goals have to be set so that people can realize their potential. Moreover, goals are essential since they can help people to stretch beyond their limits. The workplace is one of the places that requires new goals to be set. Therefore, in my workplace, the main goal I intend to achieve is taking up new roles as well as responsibilities in accordance with my future careers, which is being an assistant manager. I will ensure that all the necessary measures have been employed to achieve these goals hence ensure career development.
The motivating value of these goals is that it will help in enhancing my self-esteem, sense of wellbeing, and happiness. All these values are critical because they will help me to perform better in the place of work. The practice use of this goal is that it will be a guide towards preparing for promotions as well as future responsibilities. Therefore, the main skills that I am targeting to achieve my goals is management and multi-tasking skills.
SMART goals are essential when to come to the development of new goals. In this goal, several smart goals may play an important role. The first SMART goal that can be used is specificity, whereby the goals are specific. The second SMART goals are attainability, which implies that these goals can be easily achieved. Relevance is the third SMART goal is relevance, whereby the selected goals is relevant to my future career.
In the end, tangible results, if the goal has been achieved, is to gain more responsibility as an assistant manager after interacting with the employees and being close to them. On the other hand, if the goals have been achieved, the intangible results of the achievement will be the development of a well-laid plan on how I would attain the results. The measure of success at the midterm is to measure the outcomes of my hard work towards achieving the goal by using a manager test or a personal assessment test.
The skills, behaviors, and other deliverables have to be measured frequently to find out if they are positive. Therefore, it will monitor the skills, behaviors, and other deliverables weekly. In case I discover that I am exceeding my expectations at a particular milestone, that will be an assurance that I am moving in the right direction; hence, I will put in more effort. In some cases, situations may arise, hindering me from attaining the expectations. In this case, I will review my initial plan then investigate to determine what I am not doing appropriately. After that, I will change the approach and employ new strategies that I will use to achieve my expectations.
Various competencies are required for improvement of the goal that I have selected. The main type of competencies that will be important in this includes personal empathy, ability to develop innovations, personal creativity, personal adaptability, ability to manage change, and the ability to manage innovative cultures.
Furthermore, various types of learning can be used to attain these skills. Some of these learning skills that will ensure the skills have been achieved include understanding, analyzing effectiveness, and suggesting areas for improvement, propose thoughtful plans, solving a problem.
