Pollution and Smoking
Part A
Pollution
Pollution is a procedure that makes the air, water, land, and the environment at large dirty and unsafe for animals, plants, and human beings (Bradford, 2018). The process can be done through contamination found in the natural environment but not in a tangible way. When pollution is artificially introduced, simple things like temperature, sound, and light can be pollutants.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Pollution
One advantage of pollution is that waste is considered a useful product to another person through a different application. One example is a person called John Rockafeller, who used to take petroleum waste and refined it to valuable items. Another example is the earth’s mining slag, customarily known as garbage turns out to have enriched products that can be used in the future (Siem, 2020). This is why people are advised not to bury nuclear waste very deep in the soil because it turns out to be thorium a vital product. The disadvantage of pollution is that it harms both humans and the environment. Even though waste can be recycled to another product, it will also end up as waste. So long as it is waste, then it means it becomes a pollutant.
Applicable and Feasible Solution to Control Pollution
Various ways can be used to reduce waste in the environment. If transport, energy, and other services and goods are handled carefully, then harmful emissions that spread to water, land, and the air can be reduced.
Practical Solution
It is vital to observe environmental considerations when selecting the location of the business. It is also essential to choose places with adequate space and a proper location that gives space for exhaust outlets (Domon & Aebersold, 2010). A suitable example is the hotels that should be located in dispersive areas consisting of adequate ventilation, particularly for the kitchen exhaust, which are typically placed at the rooftop.
- The first step is to orient and locate the exhaust away from sensitive receptors.
- Extend the exhaust at least three meters above the highest point of the restaurant’s roof

- Communicate to the environmental professionals before mounting the exhaust outlet
- Using smokeless fuel like electricity and gas
- Install air pollution control system

Part B
Smoking
Smoking Reduces Stress and Makes users feel Good
Most smokers say that when they use cigarettes, there stress level decreases. Individuals that stop smoking end up repeating the same habit as they think it relieves them from stress. The reason behind this debate is that cigarette consists of nicotine, also known as a mood-altering or psychoactive drug (Choi et al., 2015). Therefore smoking makes nicotine to release dopamine a substance known to give feelings of relaxation and pleasure
Smoking Does Not Reduce Stress but Causes Cancer
People with mental challenges believe that when they smoke, their symptoms will decrease, which forces them to begin smoking before their problems start, heavy smoking has severe consequences that can become a long-term condition (Luijckx et al., 2019). Even though many believe that tobacco consists of short-term benefits, it can lead to other physical health challenges like cancer especially to people that have mental health conditions
A summary for Both Topic
Cigarettes contain nicotine, which enters the body to release the brain chemical called dopamine. The release of dopamine also triggers positive feelings for people who have depression, which is why they feel better when they smoke (Choi et al., 2015). However, smoking makes the brain switch off the brain’s mechanism when used in the long-term. Even though there is a complicated relationship between the two topics, smoking results in cancer or other chest-related problems (Luijckx et al., 2019). The second argument is then the most convincing.
