The Career Path of Human Resource Management
Sociology hasa broad scope of learning and offers many career options. Sociology graduates make good candidates who are handy in human resources careers since they understand the way people think and function in a group. After graduating, I would like to pursue human resource management.
Markedly, the typical career path of becoming a human resource manager starts with a low entry-levels such as human resource specialist, generalist, or a benefits specialist. Therefore, one works up to the levels of managerial positions. Strikingly, institutions look for human resource managers from candidates who have years of experience in human resource work, management, and employee negotiations. Thus, professionals who become human resource personnel spend more than five years working in low entry and average positions to expand their skills. Therefore, I will start with entry-level jobs such as personnel in recruiting, labor relations, and compensation specialists. Subsequently, I will acquire skills as I move up the hierarchy.
Moreover, managerial positions require excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal relations skills. Furthermore, acquainting oneself with extensive knowledge of employee and labor laws is crucial. Thus, I will enhance myself in those areas. Besides, human resource personnel attracts stiff competition, and certification will be vital for competitiveness. I will pursue packages such as the Professional of Human Resources (PHR) and Certified Employment Benefits Specialist (CEBS). PHR exam incorporates texts in 5 areas: employee labor and relations, business management, talent planning, and acquisition. Thus, accomplishing the certifications will make me an outstanding candidate.
However, the path to human resource manager has some challenges. Work-culture is dynamic; thus, ethics will change often. As a result, a high cohesion by human resource management and the rising trends is recommendable. It will be profound to acquaint myself with every current work ethic system and stratification to remain relevant every season. Therefore, I will consider opportunities that align themselves with the current trends.
