Social media has recently become a new trend in marketing.  This term refers to electronic platforms that are used for communication and socialization. These platforms can be accessed on smartphones and computers. Many businesses are marketing themselves through social media. Several social media platforms can be used for marketing purposes. These platforms are like FaceBook, Instagram, Whatsapp and Twitter. Through social media, a hotel too can advertise itself. Many hotels across the globe are effectively utilizing social media as a tool for marketing. This paper will focus on how a hotel can market itself on Social media.

Ways of Marketing a Hotel using Social Media

The first step a hotel should take when advertising itself through social media is selecting the most appropriate platform for the hotel. The data should inform this selection of potential customers to the hotel. The platform chosen should be able to reach potential customers. The hotel can advertise using videos. Research has proven that visual content is effective in drawing the attention of people (Lexie). A hotel can upload videos and pictures of the food it offers and its accommodation facilities on social media platforms. The second way of advertising on social media is through providing useful content. The content you upload on social media should be helpful to ensure more people keep on following (Lexie). Pros and Cons of Advertising Using Social Media

There are several advantages and disadvantages of advertising using social media. The benefits are that it is a cheap way of advertising. The second advantage is that social media can attract lots of potential customers to the hotel. Finally is that social media can create positive interactions between the hotel and the community (Harnil). The disadvantages are that a vast number of potential customers cannot be reached through social media, and one wrong step can create negative publicity for the hotel (Harnil).

They can advertise using videos and by proving useful information. The pros of using social media are that it is cheap, can reach many people, and it creates positive interactions.
