Discussion 5
Libertarianism’s primary focus is for persons to have a higher degree of freedom and to do as they want with little coercion from the governing bodies and colleagues as possible. A most significant emphasis on individual liberty is given to the deliberation implying liberty is strictly the top priority over other values such as equality, authority, and tradition. The central ideology behind this is that there should be minimal government interference with the lives of citizens to instruct them of what to do or not. Nozick justifies his view from the state of nature, which is a social construct theory where there is no law or order, and everyone would be trying to escape the rule of life. In rational constraints, individuals would try to get together to avoid the state of nature by agreeing on some form of government to safeguard its citizens from the unlawful kind, maybe by having police units, justice system. However, Nozick suggests that individuals should not have a moral obligation towards doing anything positive towards others and vice versa, which is criticized. However, Libertarianism seems to take the state as just a puppet radical organization and does not recognize the position or influence of societal order.
However, Libertarianism is objected based on economic status since right-libertarianism is accused of discounting market failures, arguing that market failures validate government involvement in the economy. Yet, privatization of social security would cause damage to the individual monetary stability in the long term and fiscal crisis in the short term. Libertarianism is objected since the free market may lead to violations of human rights, and no one stands alone in society, but with others, societal order can be achieved. It is irrational to expect the government to intervene while its power is kept to a minimal level possible.
