In the 21st century, the change of parameter of practicing nursing has adverse impacts on the nursing profession. Initially, nursing was based on time spent together with the patients. However, this has dramatically changed due to new technology that has increased efficiency in nursing. The changes in health systems have also significantly altered the parameters of practicing nursing in the following ways.
The mobility of medical hardware has made it easier to deliver services to more consumers. The new technological advances have shifted nursing activities from depending on the tenure and availability of nurses. In the past, nursing activities were mainly time taken with patience. However, due to technology, this has dramatically changed to a shorter time with the patients that has more impact.
The previous mechanical procedures have been replaced with chemotherapy and pharm therapy. In the 21st century the nursing practices have changed as patience is given more information and a chance to make a decision. Hence, nurses’ role varies from primarily caring for the patient and providing the patient with relevant information and ensuring they make an informed decision. For example, before administering chemotherapy, the nurses must meet the patients and discuss the side effects before making a decision.
Clinical patience information has also changed the nursing profession. Information provided by the patience serves as the foundation for treatment as opposed in the past where the health care provider guided the treatment process. In the 21st century, the provider only provides support and information and ensures that consumers make the right decision.
The diagnosis is based on population characteristics. In the past, healthcare providers used a linear path in diagnosing diseases; however, in the 21st century, diagnosis is based on the population’s features. Hence, nurses have to shift their services based on population characteristics.

The portability of medical hardware has reduced time taken with patients, shifting from mechanical to therapy treatment, patience information, and diagnosis based on population features are some of the significant changes that have occurred in the 21st century.
