Environmental context
Every human being uses communication to send message form one person to another, be it verbal or non-verbal. The environment one is in has a significant impact on how they communicate or how they respond and adapt to the physical environment. Consequently, the nature of communication in every individual is majorly influenced by the environment they are in. For example, a person in a noise play responds differently to communication from a person staying in a place with less noise. Culture has a role to play on how people perceive the environment that is mostly influenced by people’s psychological perceptions meaning that the active ingredient to human experience is the environment. In today ‘s world, technology has advanced changing how people send or receive information. Technology has facilitated globalization and diversity where people from different cultures at workplace schools and many various institutions. All this affects how people communicate and relate to each other as a result of being in different physical environments.
The environmental context all involves around how people tend to adopt the physical environment around them. The environmental context also includes how people think about built and natural environment different people are brought up in different backgrounds and different cultures; therefore, this ends up affecting how people respond to communication. This means that the environment has a significant impact on how people communicate or responds to correspondence. An example of this is how people going to different location find themselves adopting accordingly without them noticing it.
Different environmental dimensions affect how people communicate and how they relate to others. For example, when in the company of friends, one might communicate very differently as compared to when they interact with lecturers in school. This means that the physical environment that one is in automatically affect how they communicate even without them noticing the change.
Different cultures and different country have different ways of communication because of the environment around them. For example, the way male and female children interact and communicate with their parents in the United States is very different from the way boys and girls communicate or interact with parents in the Middle East. In the United States constitution, it states clearly that every individual has a right to privacy hence making privacy culture-bound. On the other hand, the Muslims have a very different way of confidentiality that includes privacy between neighbours, privacy between male and female, individual privacy and privacy at homes. The secrecy of Muslims is quite different from that of people in western countries because of their cultures and environment they are in. The way women in Muslims countries express themselves is very different from the way women in the United States communicate to men. Culture affects how people interact with each other as women are required to talk with respect to men even if they are of younger age which is very different from that in the United States. The difference between Muslims in the Middle East and people from the United States shows how culture and environment affect how people relate and communicate with each other.
Human beings have a nature to adapt automatically to the physical environment they find themselves in. This means that the environment a person is in has a significant impact on how they communicate with other people. Culture is also another essential factor that affects how people communicate, interact, and adapt to the physical environment around them. Both culture and physical environment one is in automatically change how they talk or pass information to other parties. Understanding the environmental context is an essential skill because it helps people to always communicate in the right way at the right time.
