Adolescent Emotions and Cognitive Development
Emotional change in adolescence is a process that makes many children show strong feelings and intense emotions; their moods in many cases becomes unpredictable. These systoles and diastoles cause many children to have increased conflict. The conflicts happen because most of the children’s brains are in the process of learning how to control and precise those emotions like adults. The stage of adolescence has many problems, which may substantially affect the healthy children’s way of living. The issues include depression, the adolescent with emotional illnesses can experience extreme irritability, frustration, or anger. These problems may affect children’s usual way of living. For example, a child undergoing depression as a problem of an adolescent may jeopardize his life in many ways if it is not controlled. The effects may include the following the child can be faced by the problem in a relationship where he or she can start to withdraw himself from his or her own family and friends (Davis, 2020). The children suffering from depression always appear unfriendly to others. This problem can make the child undergoing through the adolescent process to live a good relationship and begin other links, which might be detrimental to his or her living hence endangering the future.
During adolescence, taking the risk and graceless behavior has been witnessed due to depression, which comes in many children during the process. The children end up engaging in practices that they otherwise have avoided. Some of these behaviors include vandalism, breaking the rules both in society and in school, or going against the federal set laws and regulations. The majority of children going through the process may also be involved in troubles such as declining in academic or failing in academic performance. According to research, which has been carried out on the issues of adolescent process and it’s influence on public policy. The study has suggested that children should not, in any chase, be sentenced for life without bail. Because the child’s mind is still in development, many of those children get involved in those behaviors due to nature and others’ lack of knowledge. The federal government should come up with new policies on how to treat young ones and mostly those undergoing the process of adolescence to be treated in a better way and not to be treated like adults who have already passed the process (Duell, 2019).
Children’s brain development is an impact on criminal activity and trial sentencing; this is because children’s brain development affects their reasoning skills when making a tough decision. When children act upon them, they seem to be in the gray area in society. The process of adolescence enables the child to mature from childhood to adulthood. In contrast, public policy has some limitations and restrictions on the young ones who are going to violate the laws by getting involved in harmful behaviors such as alcohol drinking and causing trouble in society. The public policy needs to treat them differently because their minds are not functioning like those of adults.
Apart from adolescent emotions that affect the children, we also have a cognitive development, which is a term used to describe how children think, explore, and figure out things. It is a development associated with knowledge, problem-solving, and disposition, among other things that assist the children in thinking and understanding the world around them well. Cognitive development is vital in children’s development basis enables most of them to manage and react to the experience and information they experience daily. Most studies have shown that cognitive development is mostly influenced by the adults who stay together with the children because they will copy what the adults are doing, be it good or bad. It is the adults’ responsibility to show the young one good behavior so that they can better their future. When it comes to public policy and cognitive development issues, children should not be treated the way the adults are treated because their level of thinking is below those of adults. Maybe those adults are the ones who have influenced them to engage in those behaviors (Moon,2019).
To solve some issues that have been reported for long due to the many problems that have been witnessed everywhere in all states. The federal government needs to develop strategic plans on how they can assist the young one with peace of mind and not endanger their future. The federal government should advise and support the health care professionals to offer training to the children and the parents in general about the psychological and development aspects during adolescent and cognitive stages. This education will enable the children to acquire appropriate knowledge about the emotional changes that may occur during that given timeframe. They should be taught that the main aim of that stage is to get independence and inaugurate a sheltered identity of whom they are. The parents and guardians should be encouraged to continue protecting their children and giving them advice despite the changes which occur in their life because by doing assist them not to be feel discriminated (Schweizer, 2020).
With the help of the health sector and the guidance and canceling department, the government needs to support the issue of visiting the advice and canceling offices and in health care offices to advise on matters concerning the subject. Health care professionals can guide the adolescent child to consider a range of options; he or she can help the adolescent understand how emotions can affect decision making, leading one to destroy their future. Health care professionals need to create a climate that is sensitive to personal issues such as sexual identity development and sexual orientation so that the youth can feel comfortable while discussing some sexual activity and attraction. The child also requires essential health information on how to avoid risk behaviors related to sexual behavior.
In conclusion, the government needs to implement new policies on how young people should be treated when they violate the set rules and regulations. The public policy needs to place in a way to favor the young ones in most cases. This is due to the process they are experiencing, the federal government needs to advise the law enforces to punish the young ones with limits when they are got in any crimes. The government should encourage all social groups to keep on educating the young ones to be responsible citizens. And it should also implement adolescent and cognitive lessons in all learning institutions.
