Problem set #1
Question 1
Organizational behavior has become an integral part since it helps in understanding the performance and the activity of people in the organization. The balance between work-live forms a significant basis through which employees look for organizations and their influence on their life choices. There are a few factors that result in employees making individual choices.
Work culture. The employee’s comfort levels within the workplace impact their choices. Employees need to feel encouraged by the organizational culture, including rules and guidelines, code of ethics, and superiors (Robbins & Judge, 2018).
Leadership. Leaders, besides managers, significantly impact the employee’s behaviors within the workplace. More often, employees need to feel comfortable when working with their bosses (Robbins & Judge, 2018). Thus, a manager should stand and defend his team at all times.
Rewarding system. Rewards are aimed at motivating employees. Therefore, employees need to see their efforts being appreciated through rewarding of their hard-work.
Fellow employees. Employees are the people who form a working community within an organization. The employees are the ones who primarily impact the behavior within the organization. Therefore, personal characteristics, including abilities, beliefs, and educational level, become the leading influencers.
When choosing an organization, the above should be the criteria. Employees’ should use the criteria to choose what they need to get the firm they wish to be.
Question 2.
The first step to providing the best customer service is through understanding what customers want. In a service organization, there is no tangible product other than he intangible products that come as a service. Understanding how to model the products requires a deeper understanding of customer behaviors, likes, and dislikes to understand how a product can be modeled to fit the customer’s wants and needs in the right way.
Question 3.
Workforce diversity in an organization is created through the heterogeneous mix of individuals about their gender, age difference, race, sexual orientation, and ethnicity (Robbins & Judge, 2018). Diversity can also be found through people who have a varied lifestyle within the workplace. The essential skill in a diversified organization is communication skills. This virtue should be seen through communication to the whole team where a manager should be able to recognize the diversity in the workplace and use a universal language, ensure confusing non-verbal cues are avoided, and all other factors such as age bias and gender are avoided. For instance, when talking to the groups, the manager should avoid phrases such as “men we have to work harder” since it is biased and has excluded the ladies within the organization.
