Aeschylus’ The Persians
The intended audience for the narration was the Persians, who did not go to war, including the queen. The queen was left to guard the kingdom while she sent his son to the battle against the Greeks.
The main point of view is privileged is the anger of God against the persons. In this case, the misfortune is blamed on the punishment by God for several untold reasons. This is because the calamity was anticipated and that none of them was aware of the source of the problem.
However, other points of view are being dismissed. One of them is the fact that the poor planning by the Persian commander Xerxes who was filled with the desire to clear the Greek even if they had given up. The downplayed part is the danger that he placed his crew on to capture the Greeks, who he thought was trying to escape. This inability to realize a trap set on him and his crew is one factor that led to the terrible mistake and exposed the Persian ships to great danger in the sea.
Gaining access to a negated pointed view needs a narration by either Greek or a person in the high rank in the Persian ship that identified the mistakes that were made. In this case, he would be able to reveal that the accident and the defeating of the battle area due to the misjudgment by Xerxes, the queen’s son. It would not blame gods for their defeat but rather the inability of his son to make precise battle decisions. For instance, the urge to prevent the Greeks from escaping, even after winning the previous war, was uncalled for. This action led to them losing terribly to the Greeks.
One issue that has been implied but not states are the poor planning ability of Xerxes, the queen’s son. The story reveals his mistakes that led to the death of the entire crew. The reporter cannot directly blame him for the mistake since he fears what the queen might do to him. The reporter of the incident implies that the commander made a mistake. However, to avoid the anger of the queen, he blames the God for their fate in the ocean as a way of appeasing the queen.
The point of view that is constantly in favor is that the wrath of God has been felt by the Persians. The blame to God and the desire to know what angered the gods is the main area of focus throughout the report. It makes the finding of the solution the real problem and analyzes the real cause of the deaths of the Persian soldiers. The point of view placed in unfavorable view is the fact that there is a tendency of making unreasonable action and the need to improve the decision making. The problem of not being able to anticipate what to expect when a message is received from the enemy becomes a factor that has been downplayed in the story.
The story serves several interests. One is the tendency by the followers not to question the decisions of their leaders or reveal the exact point of view in fear of being punished. The story also servers the interest of poor leadership and the blame of God for man’s mistakes.
