What Is The EBP
Evidence-based strategies or practices (EBP) are essential when used as classroom tools. None the less, it is important to use them in as stipulated by the individuals with disability and education act in conjunction with the elementary and secondary education act. When put into use the evidence-based practices, it significantly refers to putting in place an education intervention that is reinforced by evidence from well carried out researches. Writing is an essential aspect of a student’s success when it comes to education. Ultimately, since competency is a very entail aspect in writing, many of the students often fail in this area due to limited application and implementation of evidence-based practices in many of the classrooms. Effective writing practices are made effective or considered to be effective by doing researches with regards to a wide variety of instructional practices that are significant to writing and the instructions of writing. With any given form of teaching techniques used in the classroom, students need to be given ample time to write. A point to note is that writing is not a subject that should be short-changed and glossed with regards to time constraints.

Students need to spend more time in sustained writing practices and activities and even write more frequently as this will give them great opportunities to put into practice their writing skills. Additionally, spending more time in sustained writing will also provide them with the opportunity to practices their strategies for composing. Examples of Implementation of the Evidence-Based Practice
Text Summarization
The implementation of the EB would be in summarizing the texts in which students are explicitly taught the procedures for summarizing what they read and hence providing more time for writing. Summarizing of text can also be essential in practising concise and clear writing which leads to providing accurate information.
Collaborative Writing
Provides extra time for writing by allowing students to work together in planning, writing, editing and revising their writing. For instance, one student can be chosen to review the work of another student. Additionally, I would be significant for each student to switch roles when reviewing each other’s work to provide genuine and positive feedback.
Process Writing
Process writing involves the implementation of both flexible and practical classroom routines and norms that significantly give the student extra opportunities to practice the cycle of planning, writing and reviewing their writings and compositions giving them more time to produce quality work.
Models of Writing
Models of writing include giving the students good writing models that they are required to produce as this would save time and create extra time for writing. Therefore, the teacher is needed and expected to encourage students to imitate in their writing and put into writing both the critical and effective elements provided in the models.
The teaching of Sentence Combining to Students
Students are to be taught on how to write more complex and sophisticated sentences by using teacher modelling techniques on sentence combining.
Reflection
I have learned that evidence-based practices are essential when used as classroom tools. I have also learned that evidence practices in education refer to putting in place an education intervention that is reinforced by evidence from well carried out researches. Additionally, effective writing practices are made effective or considered to be effective by doing researches with regards to a wide variety of instructional practices that are significant to writing and the instructions of writing. I have also learned that Students need to spend more time in sustained writing practices and activities and even write more frequently as this will give them great opportunities to put into practice their writing skills.
I plan to use the evidence-based practice for writing instructions providing extra time for writing in the following ways:
- Teach students the strategies for planning, revising and editing their writing.
- Have students summarize texts while they read.
- Teach students how to use a word processor.
- Provide models of good writing to the students.
- Engage students in prewriting activities.
