Do You Really Want to be a Supervisor?
I believe I should accept a supervisory position because I have a passion for achievement and success, good personality and organizational skills, and becoming a supervisor; although it has additional responsibilities and challenges, I believe it will give me a better opportunity to guide others in meeting organizational goals, learn a range of vital interpersonal and management skills, and it is a significant step in my professional advancement in becoming a managerial leader.
How Time Flies
Part 1
The manager presumes his time and working schedule to be the same as mine. He does not consider that I have other tasks to finish and assumes that we can talk as much since I have no hurry. Consequently, he does not get concerned that he is doing other tasks, taking and making calls while waiting. He seems not to value my time and does not avoid interruptions while we are talking.
Part 2
I can make a suggestion or polite request, rather than a demand or a complaint, on the preferable time of the day, the manager should be calling me in for a discussion, mostly in the afternoons when I am done with my daily tasks. According to MacArthur (2019), it is essential to time when to make a request or suggestion to the manager.
Part 3
My manager does not prioritize his tasks and how he wants them completed. A failure to prioritize activities results in ineffective scheduling, which induces pressure to multitask (Mrsic, 2017). Consequently, the manager undervalues the time needed to complete a task and does not delegate when appropriate, fails to manage distractions and ends up forgetting and leaving some tasks undone.
