Ancient Egypt
There was Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt. Upper Egypt was a strip of land on both sides of the Nile River, while the lower Egypt was situated in the northern parts of the Nile Delta. Later on, in 3100 B.C.E, the two Egypt were united by the King of Upper Egypt, King Narmer. For many years, the Nile River flooded. The flooding of the Nile River occurred between July to September. The flooding resulted from the tropical rains that happened in the highlands of Ethiopia and central Sudan. The flooding caused damage to the animals and also humans during those times. The flooding of the Nile River made the land on either side of the Nile River fertile thus this encouraged agriculture by the majority of the population.
The Ancient Egyptians had religious beliefs. Their religion consisted of many gods. Some of the gods that they believed in were the sun, water, air, earth, and the sky. The Egyptians also believed in the afterlife. They housed the dead bodies since they thought that the deceased would have another life after their death. Egyptians made the great pyramids in terms of architecture, which are still the wonders of the world till today. The pyramids were built in the fourth dynasty of the old kingdom. They were made to soar to heaven since they believed that Pharaoh was considered a divine being, and he was supposed to go back to heaven when he died. Inside the walls of the pyramids are the inscriptions of Kings climbing up to meet the sun god. The triangular shape of pyramids symbolizes the falling rays of the sun.
