Renewable Energy Engineering
Undeniably, fossil fuels not only affect the environment negatively but also exhaust at a high rate. The world is currently facing a lot of pressure to adapt to the usage of renewable energy, hence my interest in pursuing an engineering career, to give a hand in containing the global energy crisis.
My engineering skills are rooted in the studies of mathematics, chemistry, and physics. Studying mathematics contributed immensely to the development of my problem-solving skills and confidence in facing new challenges. On the other hand, studying chemistry made me aware of new concepts like kinetics, green, chemistry, and thermodynamics, which would influence the modern industry. Physics, being my favourite subject, significantly increased my understanding of how various phenomena surrounding us and how they could be used to hasten the growth of Technology. Studying these three subjects made me interested in the possibility of creating renewable energy by use of nuclear power.
To increase my knowledge in both engineering and renewable energy, I spent over three months at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa plant, where I learned about new technologies, particularly nuclear power. I became familiar with the way atoms are split in the reactor to heat and convert water into steam.
Since Technology is prone to change, I continuously read science magazines to update my knowledge. Reading such magazines such as National Geographic, has also exposed me to new ideas.
After graduating with an Engineering degree, I am determined to contribute to scientific research more so in creating a more secure energy future.
