The family is the first social environment that a child comes to interact with, which means that it plays a crucial role in family development. Parents should always make sure that children receive education, which is a basic need. On the other hand, some parents find it difficult to engage their children in learning due to various difficulties, such as the language barrier. There are various strategies that I will use in encouraging such parents to get involved in educating their children.
The first one is creating an environment that is positive for learning, where I would give parents strategies that would help them to engage in activities such as helping their children in doing homework. The other one is establishing homework policies by giving those ways that they can get involved in their children’s homework. They should, at all times, stick on the study routine for their children.
The other strategy is encouraging them to engage in a frequent early communication environment with the children. Talking to children frequently will assist in identifying their strengths and weaknesses. Also, have a conversation with parents as a teacher about the condition of a child in communication, and always engage the parents, not the children.
The third strategy is through school activities first by encouraging volunteering, where the family should participate in various activities in school. The other important thing that can be done under this strategy is including the parents in decision making through encouraging a teacher-parent relationship. This will ensure that they establish policies that will promote learning, having open communication among the parents and school. In this category, any progress will be closely monitored, and the progress of a child can be easily known.
