Issue 4: How outcomes might differ for similar initiatives in a different business context
As businesses are increasingly engaging in developing sustainability, addressing the organization’s policies and mission determine social, economic, and ecological concerns. Therefore, different human resources sustainability initiatives, although applicable and essential to all business contexts, their level of application do differ. According to Rodell et al. (2017), Loosemore and Bridgeman (2017), organizations involved in cooperating volunteering are mainly concerned with societal values. Human resources are mostly worried about employees’ commitment to society through corporate opportunities. The above initiatives though applicable to other business contexts, their application and implementation in volunteering organizations will most be based on empowerment theory and social exchange theory instead of being entirely focused on innovation.
Conclusion
Sustainability is key to any business establishment. While there are various initiatives that HR can implement depending on the organizational goals, each organization has unique goals and objectives which make it unique in the way they implement the strategies. Therefore, initiatives employed should address the organization’s goals while managing business sustainability.
