Films are most people’s wildest dreams. Particularly, most people can attest that movies have, in one way or the other, been their escape from reality. Since a very tender age, I have been one of these people, and films have always mesmerized me by how they create impressions so captivating that I wish to be part of it. For instance, I remember the times of James Bond and all his superhero charms and how they were coupled with futuristic technology. Back then, some of the things seemed unrealistic and unattainable. However, we have currently moved to a time when all this is no longer a fantasy, and we are achieving much more. The same has been replicated in the film world, and this applies to continued enthrallment, especially by their extent of creativity. The change in the film industry has irrefutably impacted me, and in ways that I am now obsessed with being part of the filmmaking process.
My drive to be a filmmaker is mostly fortified by Steven Spielberg’s quote, “You shouldn’t dream your film, you should make it!” To my understanding, the greatest achievement a person can attain is to be all odds to be what they desire. Mostly, the journey to achieve set goals has its hardships and drawbacks but with the right preparation, tools, and drive to achieve one is sure to prevail. In relation to this, I have oriented myself to the industry of filmmaking by being a contemporary artist. This gives me the chance to focus on working in environments that are culturally diverse, globally influence, and in a technologically advancing world. For example, in growing my expertise as a contemporary artist, I have had this obsession of behind the scenes footages, which has been my learning platform to understand the incorporation of different cinematographic aspects, and how they influence the specific mood and theme in a film. This being the small world I have created for myself, I do believe that being offered a chance in your institution will give me that chance to be imaginative and a major contributor to more thrilling films.
