Winter Garden

West of Orlando and its parks, Winter Garden is one of the perfect destinations in Central Florida. Mostly, it is known for its old Florida charm and style.

Nestled along the Lake Apopka banks, Winter Garden is a robust city and a former citrus town tied to Florida’s traditions such as rail travel. It is built around small businesses and a flourishing downtown area. The city boasts of hosting top drawer events annually. Events such as Halloween Fest and July 4’s Party in the Park take place, free to attend to residents and visitors.

Winter Garden has a 2020 population of 47,414. It is the 62nd largest city in Florida. It has an annual growth rate of 2.3%, with a poverty rate of 10.7%. In a span of ten years, the city’s population grew by 37.2%.  It has a population density of 2,918 people per square mile.

There are many homes available to rent or buy. The home value here ranges from as little as $20,000 with a median listing price per square feet of $162. The median listing home price is around $400,000.

There are 22 schools in Winter Garden. Eight are elementary, 3 of them middle schools, three high schools, and eight private schools. All of them are above average.

Winter Garden has the most compelling reason for any nature enthusiast to settle in, the West Orange Trail, which originates from the city and stretches northwards to Apopka. The paved trail is 20.8 miles long and free to access, making it perfect for hiking as well as biking. To add on that, it has playground equipment and amenities and, therefore, makes it ideal for those traveling with children. One can still take part in other outdoor activities such as relaxing, horseback riding, and fishing.

This city is accommodative to everyone, and art enthusiasts are not left behind too. The Garden Theatre, located in the city, offers people opportunities to attend live theatre, films, and concerts. The theatre has been in place since 1935. There are also museums endowed with thrilling photographs and souvenirs that date many years back, spicing up your stay even more.

When you live in Winter Garden, the least of your worries should be where to do your shopping. There is a collection of shops, restaurants, cafes, and stores. There is an array of dining and retail places and a 100,000 m2 open-air shopping center along Daniel’s Road. Also, a farmer’s market is hosted every weekend from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm, where vendors sell flowers, fresh farm products, baked goods, crafts, and plants.

Living in Winter Garden gives you the sparse suburban feel. The State Road 50 cuts the city into two, the northern and southern sections. The south unit was formerly occupied by farmland and orange groves. Recently, large scale communities such as the Stoneybrook West have been developing there. Other significant roads bisecting running through the city include County Road 545, County Road 535, and Winter Garden-Vineland Road.
