Nursing PractitionerStatement of Purpose
The ongoing worldwide outbreak of the COVID-19 virus pandemic has served to redefine my understanding of nursing responsibilities in society. Most importantly, my experiences with individuals and families struggling with the psychological effects of the outbreak have enabled me to acknowledge the potential of psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNP) as caregivers and promoters of physical, mental and spiritual welfare at the individual, family, local community, and global levels. These insights have not only motivated me but also invoked in me an urge to secure aposition through which I can offer more intensiveservices at a broader scale.
I believe that pursuing a Master’s Degree and upscaling my career to a PMHNP will prepare me adequately in my quest to maximize my contributions toboth ongoing and future community and national health programs. Expectedly, the PMHNP position will provide me with many opportunities for diagnosing and managing different mental health problems and psychiatric disorders, interpreting diagnostic tests, and participating more proactively in evidence-based research.Five years from now, I perceive my role as that of a highly skilledPMHNPwith oversight and instructional skills, capable of managing an independent psychiatric institution and educating related clinicians and clients about the various dynamics of mental health.
I attribute most of my current relatively outstanding track record in the fields of healthcare and community services to the cumulative knowledge gathered from my past experiences. I have to say that healthcare scientific research has been an inherent part of me since my early days in high school. During this period, I participated in many scientific fests, including the International Science and Engineering Fair, where I won awards in forensic toxicology, among other areas of study.The activities therein facilitated my exposure to first-hand applications of different scientific concepts and evidence-based innovations. My diligence, in this regard, landed me an enrolment in the xxx Nursing School, where Iearned a BSN Degree. While there, I was able to engage in patient care activities at a relatively elevated level, especially during my field placements and other practical engagements. These activities enabled me to gain crucial insights into many aspects related to nursing practice. Most important, however, my work experiences at the xxx Institution and my ongoing COVID-19-related care-giving engagementshave elevated my nursing knowledge to a markedly high level.Thus, I have come to appreciate the role of PMHNPs as frontline defenders and promoters of peoples’ psychological wellbeing in the wake of traumatic events.
While my academic journey so far has been markedly successful, I intend to work even harder. Besides my past experiences, my academic performances reflect the seriousness with which I manage my career. I have attained consistent GPA scores of above 3.0 in all my exams. Regardless, I believe that I have the potential to perform much better and boost my academic inventory. I am particularly thrilled by the prospect of venturing back into the academic realm, and I am prepared for the long and distinguished journey of enlightenment and groundbreaking scientific research. With this re-immersion experience in healthcare education, I aim to ready myself to make my informed contributions to the formulation and implementation of improved mental healthcare policies and practices. Principally, I plan to advance a lifelong specialization in physical, psychological, and spiritual care as a PMHNP byparticipating in related healthcare research and publishing my perspectives, discoveries, and innovations therein.
Given my current engagements, I am confident that effective planning and time management can enable me to apply the concept of online learning to my benefit.Since I work for only six hours per day, I have made the necessary arrangements to dedicate the more substantial portion of my free time in the evening to study. Following some extensive background research, I have concluded thatthehighly competitive online PMHNP programs offered at Regis Collegeare the most suitable for fulfilling my current career ambitions.The Institution’s longstanding success mainly influenced my choice of school in developing programs that seamlessly combine brief but intensive on-campus immersion experiences with online learning.Having participated in various online academic programs, I believe I am ready for the rigors of the online PMHPN program at the university.
