A Walk to Remember Movie
The film A Walk to Remember by Adam Shankman is a unique and a different love film compared to others because it shows how love cannot last as long as many think it will. It is the best film since the characterization demonstrates two very opposite teens that show the way they portrayed their characterization through the movie with profound changes within themselves and the story. The movie depicts a unique and sensitive type of love that shows a heartwarming but unfair love story.
The film is about two young high school kids who have very different lives (Sari, 2010). The boy Landon is a trendy punk kid who does not care about school and always find himself in trouble. Contrary, Jaime is a very kind, geek, and religious girl who never care about what others think about her. The two spends most of their days together as they are tutored. In the process, Landon starts feeling different about Jaime, and the same applies to her. In the long-run, the two falls in love. However, like every other person, Jaime has the biggest secret she has kept for herself and had not revealed it to Landon. As time goes by, he notices there is something weird in their relationship based on her reaction. Thus, he decides to find out what could be wrong by asking her question. Due to the true love, Jaime had for Landon, and she chooses to reveal the secrete of her leukaemia cancer, that had reached the final stage. Therefore, she was only left with utmost five months to live. The information scared London, something that made her run away for hiding since he was afraid of losing the love of his life forever. Nonetheless, he decides to return to Jaime and spend the last days together. Eventually, after the five months, she dies, thus leaving him much heartbroken. However, he felt fulfilling Jaime’s desire for love, as she died, knowing that there was a person who not only cared but also loved her.
The character Jaime shows how she changed from being very strict within herself to finding love and falling for someone she least expected. The lifestyle Landon turns to be very impressive as he shifts from being a total jerk to a heartwarming, loving, caring, and calm teen (Sari, 2010). His character is imposing to watch as he plays the role of a rough person. Thus, someone rude to love is one of a kind. He portrays a change for Jaime who least expected to be loved, due to her illness, and slowly realizes that Landon was really into her. His shift in characterization once he found out about Jaime’s sickness was portrayed very realistically devastating. Jaime’s demise made me feel so hurt and disappointed at how life can be so unfair, especially between people who care and love each other.
The story of the film is worth to be a love story. It shows how Landon and Jamie have always known each other. However, they thought the least of one another, until they started frequently meeting through tutoring. Through time, Landon notices that he feels different around Jaime. Thus, he does not have to act cool in front of her because he can be himself and feel good about it. The flow of their relationship is so innocent and very like a perfect love story until it had to take a turn with Jaime’s critical sickness. Her sickness, not only made them love each other more but also inspired appreciation of a heartwarming affection since they stood by each other’s side. They permanently decided to stay and keep their passion for love until death.
In conclusion, the theme of the film is to love those around us because the least expected can happen sooner than what many thought. Moreover, we need to appreciate those who we love around us. After all, life’s too short. The film demonstrates a real and heartwarming story between Jaime and Landon. Jaime portrays the character of a person who had to face death sooner than she expected despite finding a man who cared for and loved her. On the other hand, faces the most challenging phase of his life by living with his lover, who eventually dies. The film not only shows how we need to appreciate the love but also kindness within ourselves and others because it is a vital characteristic to make ourselves feel emotionally satisfied as human beings. The story ends with both emotional and beautiful feeling because Landon married Jaime, and they lived a beautiful perfect summer, knowing she was going to die.
